No he didn't. He said this could force teams to make attractive offers to move up for him. That's all it stated. It didn't state, teams are now making big offers for JJJ at a workout they can't even see.

Woj literally said teams are actually working on moving up to select him. Meaning teams are making offers for him. Multiple teams. Then you throw in the word big to move the goal posts. I reread what you wrote, I also noted how you removed the original post you quoted to move the goal posts as well.

You're just arguing semantics at this point for some reason. Aren't you the guy who has a serious chub for Ayton or Carter or something? I feel like that's the only reason you're even quoting these posts and arguing this.

Jaren Jackson Jr – Clint Capella

One of the big men who projects near the top of the draft. Jackson has similar size and length to Clint Capella. He can guard the 1-5 which is a huge strength in modern nba. Can switch on screen and rolls without much difficulty similar to Clint Capella did on Steph Curry in the playoffs. Interestingly he can also shoot the three at decent efficiency for a center. Needs to improve basic rebounding, blocks, and steals to reach his full potential. Doesn’t project to be a star player or an adept offensive player. But he should fit in well as a starter due to defensive talent. Needs maybe one post move like a baby hook that defenders have to respect.

marvin williams 2.0 i just see this guy being a roleplayer. all the physical tools but just not really great

tom izzo thinks so highly of him he didn't play him in crunch time vs syracuse. kid was invisible when i would watch. i just don't see it.

I think if Marvin Williams was 6'11" with a condor wingspan he would have had a much better career. Or if he could shoot 3s coming into the league for that matter.

I think "shot blocking Marvin Williams" is a reasonable possibility, but that guy is still pretty good, even if he never makes an all star game.

Hopefully this turns out better than KG working out with Thon Maker and saying he was a future MVP. If JJJ doesnt work out, Im officially going to look at KG anointing a player as the new kiss of death.

marvin williams does block shots and makes threes. hes a better rebounder as well.

How is someone who can't create their own shot going to be a star ? I would rather have Spellman from Nova if you just want a shot blocker rebounder and three point specialist. spellman has nasty, does jackson ?

Can this guy go iso and get you a bucket ? because if not what makes him different than a marvin williams roleplayer. i don't want that with a top 5 pick i'm looking for a star

Williams averaged 0.9 blocks per 40 as a college freshman, Jackson averaged 5.5. Spellman averaged 2.1 and is more than two years older.

So I don't think you've really engaged with the idea that Jackson is a rim protector qualitatively unlike the other guys you list.

He's probably never going to be a first option-type scorer, and probably not even a second option one. I respect wanting to take a swing for that guy with a top 5 pick, but there's a lot less room for error with a guy whose main selling point is ball dominant scoring. If they're the role player version of the player you were projecting, they end up coming off the bench or playing in China.

If Jackson grades out as a longer, switchier version of prime Marvin Williams with rim protection, that's not fantastic for a #4 pick, but it's not terrible either. Most #4 picks end up as borderline starters.

If he improves significantly from where he is at 19 then maybe he's a unicorn rim protector who can slot in to any lineup and just needs to be paired with a go-to scorer.

When asked about players who he either looks up to, models their game after or would compare himself to, he has mentioned Garnett, Davis and Porzingis on different occasions. Fair to say that he'll definitely try to develop a diverse offensive game and sees himself as a potential go-to guy on offense. Whether this works out for him or not remains to be seen, of course – but I do believe it's the right mindset to have if you still know your place and continue to emphasize defense.

So about that Jaren Jackson kid...

I don't care if it was in a SL game. I would venture the list of NBA bigs who have hit 8 threes in a game at any level is very, very short. This kid is special, and offense isn't even the most important attribute he brings to the table.

I'm nervous about that shooting form. Might not work in the NBA.

I’m the last one to take anything away from a summer league game, but hot damn, this was an encouraging performance. It shows a few things:
Confidence- yeah his shot was falling but it still takes an athlete with supreme talent and confidence to take over a game like he did, especially considering he was probably the youngest one on the court. Loved seeing him shimmy after some makes
Shot- obviously he has to have a stroke to hit 8-12 3s, even if it’s unorthodox. The best part, they weren’t just set shots, he hit a few Harden-esque side step 3s.....at 6’11”......and 18 years old.
Drives- he also showed that he wasn’t afraid to put the ball on the floor when they began closing out hard. He will draw a lot of fouls.
Gravity- it is going to be great to have a 4 or 5 pull out the opposing teams big consistently. Exactly what you want in today’s game.
Overall demeanor/ movement- this dude moves like a wing. He’s got an athletic gait and has elite lateral movement. If he develops and reaches his full potential then lookout.
