I’ve been really up and down with Musa. I think he ends up as an average Roleplayer. He can’t play defense in the NBA and he’s not a good enough shooter or scorer to off-set that.

Zhaire Smith Breakdown + Scouting video by me and Frankie Vision.

Snippet:

Summary:

Raw on offense, solid defender
Shows good instincts on defense in help and recovery, as well as isolation.
Uses lateral quickness well
Knows how to use length and athleticism to contest shots
Looks to finish everything in the paint as a dunk, if he has enough space
Shows potential as a catch and shoot guy on a limited sample size (18/40)
Very limited handle and no isolation game.
Limited passing game and does not see the floor well
Texas Tech really limited his game on offense to paint finishes on dump offs, catch and shoot, and transition. Aside from that, he did damage on the offensive glass (61st percentile, 28/49)
Strength limits his finishing ability, which should be better due to his athleticism

Do you have a breakdown on Bagley or JJJ?
Bet with Stillwater Celtics will finish 6th or higher in ECF Standings Regular Season(17-18). [WON]

Bags is next, then Luka, Anfernee, and after that not sure. Gonna talk with Frankie.

I kind of suspect the Suns are going to draft Adjin Penava with one of their first round picks if they don’t trade it. They want to pass from every position.

Interesting. Penava has always looked like the knock off version of Bender to me.

Not sure he makes a whole lot of sense for them.

Well their GM said they are looking to be aggressive in trades so I wouldn’t count anything out with them.

His game and personality gives me the feeling that he'll be a one contract and back to Europe type guy.

Has that alpha scorer mindset and I'm just not sure he'll willing to adapt his game to stick in the nba if his style doesn't translate / role changes.

But why draft a duplicative skillset/prospect and trade the likely better version of the two?

It's not like Bender has much trade value either after another underwhelming season.

Just doesn't make sense from an asset management standpoint imo.

I actually think he’s a really good passer and he has height. I think he sticks in the league, but I can’t imagine he gets many minutes unless he becomes really consistent. With that wingspan and his lacking handle, NBA defenses are going to give him trouble 50% of the time. I find it hard to think he can score consistently even in his prime. And then he really doesn’t give much on defense.

A big need in the NBA right now are 3s that can pass, like the Pelicans could really use a passer at the 3. Same with the Nuggets. A bunch of teams just need to be able to get the ball into the post from the wing without sacrificing size.

Even with all of that, he’s still a project and one of the youngest players in this class. If he can play the 4, as a scoring 4 I think he would be much more valuable because of his speed, but he’s a long ways away from that.

Musa was the best player on a European team at 18 for the whole season (he turned 19 a few weeks ago). Sure the Adriatic is not the best league, but that's still impressive. In comparison Jokic at same point in his career put up 18 pt, 10 reb, 3 ast per 40. Musa did 21 pt, 5 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl per 40. 82% FT suggests he can become a 3pt shooter.

Going to do a report on him after I finish up with Doncic. Should be starting Simons later tonight, or tomorrow. The usual stuff as on my site - Synergy stats, video, and analysis. Talented multi-level scorer, but raw.

Really mixed reviews. Consensus is he’s a project, but a project with a lot of upside.

Anfernee Simons seems to be picking up steam after today. Lakers were really impressed with him. A lot of teams are working him out and have interest.

This guy might be doing the best analysis of the current draft prospects of anyone...anywhere...

where does everyone see Donte DiVincenzo going in the draft? Between Divi and Huerta, who has the better potential to be a Korver/Reddick type, good curl and catch/shoot type player?
