What do you mean by likely best case? I'd say Redick is the most likely outcome, but I don't think I'd call it a best case. Something like this:

Extremely unlikely worst case - Daequan Cook
Possible worst case - Jodie Meeks
Most likely - JJ Redick
Possible best case - Michael Redd
Extremely unlikely best case case - Ray Allen

Buddy has a vastly superior NBA body and is far more athletic.

He was supposed to go somewhere between 25-35

That would've been a steal for whoever drafted him.

Draft Express had him in the 40s as recently as the start of this season. I was hoping he'd stay there and OKC could take him with the Charlotte second rounder (since dealt to acquire Foye).

Have you seen how Redick moves? Hield is pretty avg athletically, JJ is quick as ****, he is above Buddy in that regard quite clearly.
Same with BG, not even the same conversation.
But hey you have people comparing Buddy to EJ Gordon, who was a once in a lifetime type of athlete at his size, mass and explosiveness.

Honestly I don't know what you're watching a lot of the time. I have seen Reddick, he is great at what he does because of technique. He is in the league through shear work ethic despite his physical limitations. Hield does not have those physical limitations. Hield is a far better athlete with a far better body. Again I don't know what you're watching.

Redick is shiftier, quicker, more dynamic, can move, and could move in Duke, with screens much better than Hield, other than been shooters their games are not that similar.
Hield is a bit bigger, longer and bulkier, but he doesnt have elite quickness in his game.
Having more size doesnt equal to been more athletic, and athleticism is not only about explositivty.

I honestly don't care to debate this. If you think Reddick is the better athlete that is fine by me.

I think comparing him to Reddit and Meeks sells his skillset short. Reddit and Meeks were a lot more shot takers than shot creators. Hield is a lot more creative when it comes to scoring. I like the Ben Gordon comparision.

sky4it wrote:Pre-draft, intangibles never are a big thing, as one guy mentioned here Daymond Green pre draft knocks. But Green has real quick hands, good foot speed and he just has great anticipation in rebounding and defending plays. I think Buddy has that too.

Green had the steals/blocks to show for his innate defensive prowess, and freakish length. Hield doesn't have that. He'll be a game defender and will put in effort but he isn't going to be anything more than a mediocre defender. Hard work can't stretch his arms out another inch.

I don't think that Hield will be the offensive force people seem to think he'll be either. His jumper is sick, but you need a lot more than that to be a big time player. You need to be a good penetrator and create looks for your teammates. Hield doesn't have the speed or explosiveness to get past real NBA defenders all the time, he has enough to kill people for closing out aggressively. What's more, he can't pass. That A/TO ratio is garbage for a senior ballhandler. His assist rate for a guy using as many possessions as he does is terrible. You can justify it because naturally he should be taking all of these shots, but he has shown nothing that'd make you think he could be trusted to set other people up.

I still like the Jodie Meeks comparison. Rich man's Meeks.

Pardon me but who compared him to a top 5 player in any era?

Actually, I believe I just did. Please excuse me, that was something seldom found on forums, it's called sarcasm. Although I do believe someone quite a ways back did compare his shot release to Steph Curry.

Trust me, Hield is already a better shooter than Mayo. Mayo is one of the most inconsistent chuckers I've ever seen. Mayo also literally never drives to the hole, Hield definitely has shown he can drive and likes to mix it into his game. Not to mention they are polar opposites in attitude, Hield is a gym rat who isn't at all confrontational on the court, the opposite of Mayo.

Buddy Hield the #2 pick if people have common sense, he's an animal.
