His inability to breakdown defenses and finish against the best defenses he played this year is probably his biggest criticism.

He doesn't have to be a superior drive and kick PG to be successful. He could become one of the league's best Pick-and-roll PGs, with his skillset. There's more than one way to play.

But when you add in that he can shoot, and at his size he can do it over defense and in the midrange floater area, I think he'll be damn good. Many times when people talk about how he did against elite defenses they forget the other teams best defender was always on him and he had all eyes on him. Guys ain't playing that level of defense on him every night, he's gonna be facilitating an offense with other talented players.

Id love to have him.

He wasn't always able to shoot over the defense though....his 38% midrange FG% is indicative of that.

Not all 38% FG% are created equal in college basketball. No perimeter player faced more defensive attention than D'angelo Russell. Constant traps and double teams will decrease your %. Playing with 'bigs' that don't attract double teams aren't that helpful either. Russell's percentage isn't created the same as Booker's percentage or Winslow's perctage.

Russell has the length and quick release to shoot over defenses. He's longer and has a quicker release than OJ Mayo and Mayo has no trouble getting shots off over NBA SGs.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

A bigger smarter OJ Mayo is a sure fire allstar.
