Any particular players catching your eye?

Cameron Williams has some really interesting fluidity at his size and college level strength training is really going to help him. I love Jordan Adams, he is not #1 pick material, but he is a competitor and really fun to watch. Luigi Suigo looks really nice to me, kind of reminds me of Clingan. Ikenna Alozie is super fun. Idk, we will see. Williams could be Thon Maker, lots of people could look bad as they age, but I am kind of hopeful that it ends up being a bit better than advertised.

How do you feel about Bruce Branch and Baba Oladotun? They seem like they are going to be mocked top 5. I'm hoping Branch and Caleb Holt go to Houston to play with Alozie, but I am not holding my breath. I think they're probably going to Arizona.

Haven't watched them yet so can't say. Holt I like but don't love, but I have always watched him playing with and against primarily older players.

ESPN Analytics' "Consensus Prospect Rankings" on their NBA Draft Simulator (which is fun to use BTW) has 310 spots, and goes all the way down to UNLV's Kimani Hamilton, St. Johns' Bryce Hopkins, and Virginia's Thijs de Ridder.

Linked here: https://espnanalytics.com/nba-draft-simulator

I will be using this instead of making my own consensus for the future directory threads.

This is their current lottery (as of January 14, 2025):

1. Darryn Peterson to WAS
2. Cameron Boozer to ATL via NOP
3. AJ Dybantsa to IND
4. Caleb Wilson to SAC
5. Kingston Flemings to BKN
6. Mikel Brown Jr. to UTA
7. Jayden Quaintance to CHO
8. Labaron Philon to DAL
9. Koa Peat to CHI
10. Hannes Steinbach to MIL
11. Yaxel Lendeborg to POR
12. Bennett Stirtz to MEM
13. Nate Ament to OKC via LAC
14. Cameron Carr to SAS via ATL

I don't get the Quaintance hype AT ALL. I get the board opens up after the top five are gone, but what makes him a mid-lottery pick? He has no offensive game. I am seeing him high all over the place.

The case with Quaintance is that you may be getting Ben Wallace level defense. The case against him, of course, is you may be getting Ben Wallace level offense.

Completely agree. What gets me is watching that flat-footed jumper and freethrows, it is like he doesn't even care to try to have somewhat regular form and just shoots off the back of his heels. I was really hopeful for him but I would not take him in the lottery at all.

Am I crazy, or is this draft absolutely loaded? 3 very good top end guys, then the guard depth looks insane. I gotta imagine a lot of guards end up staying in college an extra year to get that NIL money and hope to be drafted higher in 2027.

Ebuka Okorie with another monster game in the upset over Unc. 36/9 with 1 turnover.

Just throwing out two names of guys I haven't seen good games for but want to: Massamba Diop and Zach Cleveland. Both seem kind of interesting.

IMO the top 5 is really good, but the 6-15 range is kind of meh. It's always hard to predict how much depth a draft class will have in January since you don't know who's going to declare for the draft, but I'd predict this class to have above average depth.

Diop looked good against Zona from what I watched last night. With Zona having a lot of nba level players, along with a good 7'2" center themselves that is encouraging. Diop moves really well for 7'1" and a big reach. He is already a 21 year old freshman but he played professionally in Spain I believe.

I agree that the middle of the 1st looks sort of weak. Also agree that it's hard to project how deep a draft is this early, especially in the days of NIL.

At the minimum there's a good number of interesting PG as well as Center prospects.

Game ends with Kansas winning 80-62.

Kansas is now 13-5 on the season, 3-2 in conference play (#7 out of 16 teams in the Big 12).
Their KenPom rating moves from +24.84 to +25.63, and their KenPom rank goes from #17 to #15 (#5 in the Big 12).

Baylor is now 11-6 on the season, 1-4 in conference play (#14 out of 16 teams in the Big 12).
Their KenPom rating moves from +18.44 to +17.59, and their KenPom rank goes from #40 to #41 (#7 in the Big 12).

The four potential draft picks dominated.

Darryn Peterson: 23 MINS, 26 PTS on 87% TS, +26
Flory Bidunga: 30 MINS, 23 PTS on 79% TS, 11 TRB, 2 STL, 5 BLK, +28

Cameron Carr: 31 MINS, 24 PTS on 63% TS, -7

10/14 2FG
2/3 3FG
4/8 FT
0 TOV

+26

Duke is now 17-1 on the season (6-0 in conference play, #1 out of 18 teams in the ACC)
Their KenPom rating is +32.50, the 3rd-highest in the country!
In the most recent AP polll, they were ranked 6th, but they are likely to move up based on how they have performed this week.

The Stanford Cardinals which the Blue Devils blew out are now 13-5 (3-3 in conference play, #7 out of 18 teams in the ACC).
Their KenPom rating is +11.05, #78 in the country and #13 in the ACC.

Something notable about Stanford, though, is prior to today, they possessed the most prolific scorer in ACC college basketball.
Ebuka Okorie is a 6' 2" 185 pound freshman guard out of Nashua, NH who was not in the top 100 high school recruits entering college but began his college career with a splash.

He had been averaging 22.9 points on .577 True Shooting, which caused him to move up the draft boards. ESPN Analytics currently has him ranked as a second-round pick, #53 in the country.

However, today when faced with Boozer and the Duke defense, his scoring and team's offense in general crumpled, faced with 5 projected draft picks on the Duke roster:

Mocked #2 - Cameron Boozer
Mocked #14 - Patrick Ngongba II
Mocked #30 - Isaiah Evans
Mocked #39 - Dame Sarr
Mocked #60 - Cayden Boozer

As Boozer went off for 30, securing his spot as the top scorer in the ACC, Okorie scored 9 points on .455 True Shooting, and had 1 assist to 4 turnovers (while his season averages are a stellar 3.3 AST and 1.3 TOV!). In a bright spot, Okorie racked up 2 steals and a block.

AJ Dybantsa will need to score 26 points today to reclaim his scoring crown of freshmen in college basketball (and of all scorers in general in the Power 5).

For myself personally, Boozer and DP are pulling away from AJ at the top of the draft. AJ's body of work against better teams just doesn't measure up to the other two.

JT Toppin and Christian Anderson both show out today in a big win over Brigham Young, where AJ Dybantsa struggled.

The junior forward JT Toppin is currently ranked #34 by ESPN Analytics in their aggregate ranking, while Christian Anderson, the sophomore guard, is ranked #17.

JT Toppin had 27 points and 12 rebounds (5 offensive!) and Christian Anderson had 22 points, 7 assists, and 2 blocks.

Texas Tech is the #15 team in college basketball, ranked by AP, but they had a decisive victory over the BYU Cougars 84-71.

As for BYU's other prospects, Richie Saunders is the only one with a good chance of being drafted, he's likely to go in the second round, and he's ranked #46 right now. Richie Saunders is a 6' 5" senior from Utah who is a sharpshooter. 40% from three-point range on 7 attempts a game.

His free throw percentage is 83% and he averages 19 points a game to go along with 5 and a half boards and 2 steals.

When it comes to BYU's other players, senior center Keba Keita is a ranked #168 and sophomore guard Robert Wright III is ranked #260. They have more to prove if they want a place in the 2026 NBA draft.

More on AJ Dybantsa's performance:

Caneman786 wrote:AJ Dybantsa puts up a rare stinker. First sub-20 point game in a while now!

Brigham Young moves down to 16-2 (4-1 in conference play, #3 out of 16 in the Big 12)

Texas Tech is a tough team of course. They gave Duke their only loss of the season so far.

I personally would agree with this. AJ is a stud.

However, I think his game is a little more prone to ups and downs than Boozer's is, and his defense could be a little better.

He could easily prove us wrong in the second half of the college basketball season, though.

Lol, how is Rob Wright ranked #260? By who?

He's easily a 1st rounder if he declares.

Killing it this year as a sophomore.
