I'm sorry, but any big that plays with the mentality of Andre Drummond is going to flop in the NBA. Nothing about this kid screams elite potential.

I am starting to agree...his FT form is horrendous, he is soft, and plays like he doesn't care about winning at all. He really needs to stay another year, but even then Calhoun does not know how to utilize a big.

At the same time, Deandre Jordan showed even less as a freshman and that is the reason he fell in the draft. His physical tools are starting to get him further and further in this league. At 23 years old, Jordan looks like he may have himself a very nice career when it's all said and done.
If I remember correctly, Howard also had question marks regarding his 'passion' for the game and whether he had what it took to become the player he has.
Drummond's upside is sky high, and his worst case scenario is a better player than DeAndre Jordan currently is who's a pretty valuable player in his own right. You can't say the same for Leonard.

You've gone on and on... and on... and on about how great Leonard's skills and athleticism are and his physical superiority to Bogut - other than current leg strength. If he's that good, how could you possibly not have him in the top 5?
No i didnt imply that at all. I said that leonard is the better athlete.
You've had at least a dozen posts saying how great Leonard's skills are, and then you focused on how he's a much better athlete than Bogut. It's pretty hard not to come to the conclusion that you implied he's a better prospect than Bogut was. If you don't think he's in Bogut's class as a prospect, you could just say it.
great skill? when did i say that? if he had great skill, then he'd be polished which he is not. what he does have is a prototype frame and very good athleticism to go along with a solid foundation of skill. he has the basics of the post game down, will fight for position, he can shoot and he can pass, which is more than you can say about most 7'+ prospects.
he is however a better athlete than bogut was at the same stage, but he is not the more polished product at the same stage. bogut was a 20/10 player in college and nat'l POTY. he was stronger in the lower body, more polished in the post and better defensively.

But just because DeAndre wasn't polished and fell in the draft doesn't mean he doesn't have a good head on his shoulders. You can see the passion on the court, when a big Blake Griffin dunk happens, or when a game winning shot is made....the dude has love for the game. It's not a measurable stat, but it's certainly tangible. I watched that big shot Shabazz Napier made today against Villanova...EVERYONE on the UConn squad was STOKED...and than they zoomed in on Drummond- looked like he couldn't care less. Like I said, I doubt not that Drummond has the potential to be game changing center...but so did Kwame Brown. Drummond fears contact. That is NOT a good sign. He was projected as a game changer before UConn snagged him. I've seen ZERO sign of game changer unfortunately. I see JaVale McGee.

You can't possibly tell me that you honestly believe yourself when you talk about "passion" and "good head on your shoulders" when referring to DeAndre Jordan at Texas A&M. was often lazy, and many questioned his toughness on the court, both mentally and physically. If those weren't legitimate questions surrounding him as a prospect, you can bet your bottom dollar he would have gone far higher than he actually did. You can't tell me Drummond doesn't look excited when he throws down a 'big dunk.' Everyone does, even though that's hardly a measure of "passion."
