Well Jrue has played more games and contributed more to winning than the assets the 76ers got, so as of now the Pelicans have plainly won. We'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes from here. The Sixers absolutely made the right decision to rebuild of course, but that's a separate question from whether they won this particular trade (as their fans keep claiming).

A successful trade does not = contributing the most wins to the following season unless they are in a totally win-now mode. A successful trade from a teams point of view is pointing them in the right direction and contributing the most wins on a long term basis, which is exactly what this trade did for the Sixers.

That being said, Nerlens Noel in his current state and the 10th pick in this upcoming draft is completely objectively much better value than Jrue Holiday alone, even considering the fact that Noel hasn't played a minute yet.

RT @cf_gardner: Lasry is ruling out Bucks taking Embiid. "Our decision got a lot easier, mainly because Embiid got hurt."

RT @cf_gardner: "It's hard to take Embiid," Lasry said. "We want somebody who is going to help us on Day 1."

I dont undertsand this thinking. If youre the Bucks you are not gonna be good for awhile why is it important to get someobdy to help you from day 1?

Youre gonna lose 50 plus gamex next year anyway if Embiid misses a month or two i dont see how that messes your plans up

These horrible teams are too worried about winning 27 games instead of 23 take the guy you think will be the best player in the long run

I'm the one who thinks we need to wait and see who wins the Pelican trade. You're just asserting that you've cheated the Pelicans, when neither of your players has played a single minutes yet.

that's just an excuse lol

You don't come out and say the real reason "we think this guy is going to get hurt and will never play a full 82 game season" because that isn't professional, talking about a 19 year old kid with dreams like that

I now can understand Wiggins/Parker going ahead of Embiid because of injury concerns, but every team that doesn't take him after the first two picks will regret it.

He has all time great potential. You don't skip over that.

Embiid will be a Laker, I think they'll move up for him to be honest

It'll be good news for the Magic and Jazz whose fortunes I'm far more interested in (and who I think would be happier if Embiid was off the board when they selected).

While it is true that no one knows if Nerlens will be better than Holiday (I'd say the odds are in his favor), they also got the Pelicans first rounder which ended up being the 10th pick. In terms of value, the Sixers easily won. I don't think the Pelicans thought they'd be as bad as they were this season tbh.

Even if Noel and the 10th pick both bust, it doesn't really matter too much, it's not like if they had stayed with Holiday they'd be in a great position, Holiday is not a star player.

Lakers need to win over these next 2 seasons
they ll look for someone who can come in and help right away
+ plus all their holes they dont need someone who hurt

its going to be either Smart or Randle for them

It matters in determining who won the trade. You can have made the right strategic choice (to rebuild), but still butchered this particular tactic (the trade).
