And you know this... how?

Can’t speak about Garland, he does seem to have a good work ethic. Coby is special in terms of work ethic though. Lots of stories in NC about how much work the guy puts in. Very professional and relentless.

I can see him having a long career, possibly even longer than some higher potential candidates but I think his ceiling is that of a Courtney Lee in the nba

more of a combo guard than a 2 IMO, which might be a good thing. combo guards now might be the most valuable commodity outside of 2-way wings. i think we're heading towards an NBA where we're going to see most teams rather have 2 combo guards in the back court versus the traditional lead and shooting guards.

You're right and I miss-wrote: I've compared him to D'Lo on this forum before who is a combo guard. It was very late when I wrote the post above and I was half asleep.

So how does Coby project as a defender? Average? Plus? Defend 1s and 2s?

His defensive IQ is high, he has great footwork defending. He’s a little slow laterally, but knows where to put his feet. I see him getting that old man defensive game and finding ways to draw charges.

He finds space, gets his shot off quickly, shoots well and plays in the flow of the game. Can finish a bit inside. Not a game-changing athlete or defender, and he's more a 2 than a 1, but I think he can be an 18-20 pt. scorer. He could be close to Jamal Murray if things go well for him. I think he goes mid 1st round, somewhere in the mid teens.

I keep forgetting the guy is 6'5, maybe it's because I look at him and he's so slight. That extra size really boosts his stock, imo, as it makes his archetype a bit more tenable.

it's probably because he has a wide base with shorter arms so it looks like he's shorter than he actually is

He is quick as hell, I had him for tier 5 but games like this make me say, he is a clear 1st rounder

Physically, he's comparable to Jamal Crawford. Similar, tight-strung athlete as well. Not sure about the wingspan.

6'5? Holy crap.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

So what does he do if he is not good enough to dominate the ball in the NBA?

he should be a lottery pick. also, i know he's listed at 6'5", but he won't measure at 6'5". not without the hair. probably a tad under 6'3" without shoes, so 6'4" in shoes is what he'll measure at - which is just fine. doesn't need to be 6'5" to be a really good prospect. 6'4" is still great for a lead guard. and he's a good athlete.

LOL the measurement of 6'5" in shoes does not include his hair...if it did he's be 6'8" He's probably 6'4" barefoot

But guys, he only has a 6'4" wingspan. How is he ever going to be able to get his shot off in the NBA?

what measurement of 6'5" in shoes? we'll know his height/length come draft time. prior to that don't trust any "measurements" or supposed measurements.

Yeah yeah... seen him standing next to bigs and small guards enough to guess he's at least 6'4"

I like the Dinwiddie and Jamal Murray comps. If he can play off ball as a shooter and push pace with the ball he’d be a great fit for my Bulls.

I wouldn’t draft Coby before 8 though.
