Last year you had one gen talent and 1 elite talent.

You have all of Boozer, Dybantsa and Peterson ahead of Harper?

Respectfully, Harper's closer to a generational draft bust than a generational prospect

You think all 3 of those guys are clearly better prospects than Harper?

Harper was an incredible guard prospect.

Based on what we know so far, absolutely.

Harper had shooting concerns, which none of these guys have, and all of them are bigger than him.

I feel like if the thought is there has been 4 generational talents in back to back drafts, at least 5 in 2 of 3 years.

I think we’re really getting away from the “generational” aspect of the term.

"generational" is who they were pre-draft not looking back in hindsight. They'd offer something nobody had ever seen before and it would be decades until you saw their likeness if ever.

Wilt - 7'2" supreme athlete. It wasn't just that he was taller than anyone ever but he was also stronger, faster, and longer too.
Kareem - Similar (but not quite) profile to Wilt but more of an adult and better leader. Only 2 losses in three season in college and (including a perfect 1967 season) and won 3 consecutive National Championships
Dr. J - there had never been a high-flying 6'8" two-way wing with swag before
Bird - a 6'9" white guy that was more skilled and as flashy as the black guys that dominated the sport throughout the 70s who could score on all three levels and was an elite passer and shooter
Magic - a 6'8" PG with no look passes but that could play center if you needed him too and the ultimate leader with a smile made for tinsel town
MJ - the most amazingly graceful athlete and leaper the game had ever seen with arguably the highest two-way skillset from a non-center ever
Shaq - 7'1" 330 lb with power, athleticism and personality that was an unstoppable force we'll likely never see again
Lebron - a 6'8" 250lb specimen that could dunk from the FT line but also had elite BBIQ and could pass
KD - 6'11" sharpshooter, scorer with a crossover that could get his shot off against anyone
Wemby - 7'4" teen phenom with guard skills while being a dominant shot-blocker

If you can't say before a draft that the prospect is easily the best in his class and we haven't seen anything like him in decades than he's not generational. Flagg is a 6'8" two-way wing that can pass but we've seen guys like that recently and there were actual debates about whether Ace was better early on and Harper (still?) too so he doesn't quite measure up.

Peterson could be close if only because we really haven't seen a big guard that is the athlete he is while also potentially being elite on D for awhile if ever tbh. However, his injury has prevented him from making it obvious that he's easily the #1 guy so he hasn't earned it yet. We need him to get 100% and start putting up monster games and take his team deep in the tournament if not win the whole thing.

Bird doesn't belong on the list, because alot of people didn't believe Bird was the best prospect in his class when he was coming out of college

I agree with you with Flagg. Coming out of high school, i thought Flagg was a gen talent and the next KG, but at Duke he was just average and i realized he is just another KMart.

Bro, wtf are you talking about? Cooper Flagg's Freshman season was one of the best of the past decade. He lived up to every bit of the hype.

Comparing him to KMart is just wildly inept analysis. At this point I can only think you're trolling.

If you're not number 1 overall, doesn't that preclude you from being "generational" prospect? Or at the very least, wouldn't that mean someone like Greg Oden was a generational prospect?

I agree. Bring Bird and MJ into this doesn't make sense.

As for KD, it is possible to have two gen talents in one draft.

Aren't they all #1 except Bird (was taken a year before eligibility) and MJ (Hakeem went #1 because Centers were dominant in the NBA at that time and Rockets wanted twin towers and it's arguable that Hakeem is generational anyways, #2 owner wanted center because he already had a SG in Drexler and actually tried to trade to get Sampson before the draft by offering Drexler and #2 pick)? There's no accounting for idiot owners/G.M.s or other various extenuating circumstances but yeah, for the most part generational players should go #1 but obviously not all #1 are generational.

Durant went after Oden too.
