Serge Ibaka reminds me a lot of a young Shawn Kemp. His physique, speed, leaping ability, coordination, timing, the sheer joy he gets throwing down. He loved to play basketball partly because he could do all this stuff no one else could. I remember watching Reign Man develop along with Gary Payton. I remember Kemp beating Karl Malone up & down the floor for dunk after dunk. But then came McIlvaine. And all those illegitimate kids. And then he got fat and didn't care. Maybe it was inevitable. Too damn bad because for a season or two Kemp was seriously one of the best players in the NBA. I think that's Serge Ibaka's upside. Does he get there? Who knows. History reminds us that for every 1 Shawn Kemp there's 100 Hakim Warricks. But the kid has got a chance. I'm looking forward to seeing him play this summer.

Is there something specific you disagree with? Or are you just obnoxious?

Yes... Serge Ibaka would be drafted over Blake Griffin if he played in the NCAA... It is laughable that anyone would think otherwise.

When I was a Sonics fan I did a fair amount of research on Ibaka. Better than Griffin? No way. The reason a lot of Africans don't do well is the fact that they start playing late in their lives. I believe this is the case with Serge. Not to mention the guy weighs 220 pounds at 6'10.

PS. Sonic fans that still root for the Thunder make me sick.

BBen I won't go as far as you but since my Sonics were stolen I treat the OKC team as if they don't exsist. And I also woner why any devoted Seattle fan would treat that team as if nothing happened. But to each his own.

But I'll say this. Once alot of water has passed under the bridge time softens one's stance. I can now talk freely about the Grizzlies without any hatred although I'm not really a fan.

I didn't say that. Sarcasm only works if there's an intelligent (and accurate) observation behind it.

As for me, I can't understand why you'd quit your team. Hate the owner, ya. But what did the guys on the team do? So keep it to yourself Ben.

He reminds me of Tyrus Thomas without the mediocre jumpshot and mediocre handles.

Definitely a project.

i can't speak for seattle-ites, but i did not grow up in seattle. i spent some time in the seattle area as a teenager, around the time i got into basketball, so the sonics were my team. so to me it doesn't really matter where they play, though i still dislike bennett and was very pro-seattle during the whole debacle.

i can't say how i'd feel if i were from seattle. it does seem a little "too soon", but some people just don't have emotional attachment to sports that way. if other people's team preferences 'make you sick', maybe you should re-evaluate the reasons you follow pro sports..

It would make me more sick to root for the Blazers. I have hated them my entire life.

Yeah I hate Bennett with a passion, but until the city of Seattle steps up and lands a new team I'm going to keep following the one I grew up with.

When Seattle hi-jacks a team from another city I'll be a Seattle fan again. Heck I still am a Seattle fan it's just my team is now playing in OKC.

By the way BBen it took me all of three minutes to find this clip of Serge Ibaka.

At the 28 second mark there is a picture of him in a basketball uniform as a little kid. So he has been playing ball ever since he was young.

Wiff has a great attitude on this subject. Yes, the circumstances were totally unfortunate which led to the moving of the team; however, the history of the Sonics is still inextricably linked to the Thunder. We have a great GM and owners who are willing to spend money to win.

No reason not to be a Thunder fan in the interim between Seattle teams.

6'10" 220lbs but that was last year when he was 19 he looks noticeably thicker now.

But this is the crazy part right here.

Ibaka has a 46-inch vertical, four inches higher than the next best of this year's draftees, and a 7-foot-4 inch wingspan.

If you want to read more here is the rest of the article. He also has 17 siblings.
