I don't get this comparison at all

he's an entirely different player

White & European

Enough for anyone to come to such a comparison.

Vesely doesn't even possess 1/10th of Gasol's moves or touch around the basket (I'm talking Rookie Gasol BTW not current Gasol)...

Joakim Noah with less intangibles, but has a jumpshot?

more like Omri Casspi...

Vesely is still young and hasnt fully developed his identity - especially on the offensive end. He's versatile, athletic, has a developing NBA body, and is a role player on a strong European team. That is enough to warrant a lottery pick. A team like Utah, who is trying to avoid the luxury tax, could take him if he doesnt care about coming over next season.

It's the closest comparison you can give him with international players.

How about we compare him to every white European? Does that make people happy?

Jeez......

Up to 9th on Chad Ford's top 100. I wonder if he could slip into the top 5. Possible?

My main question with Vesely is, can he play man defense in the NBA or he is like Joe Alexander where he's a great athlete, but not an NBA athlete? I haven't seen him play but DX talked a little bit about some questionable lateral quickness.

He will not be a Joe Alexander type of bust.. He is not just an athlete, he has a very good outside shot and is also an intelligent player

Let me rephrase the question, how good of a man defender is he and how well will it translate to the NBA?

Well the people on the first page (was it you?) clearly went out of their way to find American/black players.

Amare and Josh Smith? Not a chance.

When I first saw him play the very first comparison that came to my mind was a Euro-Anthony Randolph. 6-11 and wirey strong. High energy player who's capable of handling/passing like most SFs. Amazing looking dunks. Did I already mention high energy??? Like most have said, could end up being a matchup nightmare for opposing coaches. Give him a few years

His main impact on defense will likely be helping on the weakside, providing flexibility to cover both 3s and 4s, and being able to switch on P&Rs. His lateral quickness may keep him from being a lockdown defender, but his athleticism, feel, and energy should make him an asset on the defensive end.

He will be able to play off quicker threes because of his length and solid closing speed. That should help prevent him getting burnt by good slashers.
