Parker should be the easy number one IMO. He's way too skilled to not succeed. If he can go back down to 225-230 he should lap everyone else (especially considering the fact he only gained weight when injured).

Wiggins reminds me of a Rudy Gay. Super athleticism and defensive potential but hardly a franchise changer like Parker could be.

What? This next draft is too deep and top heavy talented to know who'll be 1/who will emerge. And the majority consensus is that Wiggins is that guy.

What a ludicrous statement, as good as Parker is. (Think he's number 2)

Randle is the only other one in the discussion and his game screams less athletic Derrick Williams. I'll pass.

He may be an athletic freak but what if he can't shoot (well enough). Why would you draft such a player that is so limited?
Even the so called scrub players currently in the NBA make jumpers, know when to shoot, during practice or have a better shooting form/stroke/release.

Lebron James looked like Darius Miles to me, the first time I saw him and even great players have days when they just can't hit a shot. Wiggins' shooting form is pretty good and he's fundamentally sound, its not like we are talking about Demar Derozan coming out of high school.

The difference is LeBron James was built closer to Karl Malone than Miles even at 18. Shooting aside people knew they had seen something they hadn't seen before in any past 18 year old with LeBron.

Wiggins is built pretty much like a few other wings who have come before out of HS or college. He's athletic but there's not that obvious X factor to say he won't just be another Rudy Gay or Josh Smith? If those guys are his peaks that's actually not terrible for a career but maybe not worth a $180m shoe contract?

I actually think his game is a lot more like Antoine Walker minus the issues but bigger, stronger and more athletic. Pretty damn good prospect if you ask me.

Wiggins has a massive boner for the Raptors, this reason alone is why some teams will be hesitant in drafting him because after his contract is up he'll just end up leaving.

makes 0 sense with the new CBA, even if Wigs wanted to leave after his rookie contract, the team could match his offer sheet, or get a huge trade package if he's really as good as advertised. What ever team drafts wigs, they got 8-9 years to figure it out and wigs has no choice

people are getting too hung up on that one word in this thread.
basically what i think the scout was getting at is what vibe does he give off? is he an alpha dog? does he exude confidence and superiority? does he look like he can he just impose himself on his defender if he wants to? do extra defenders tend to gravitate towards him when he touches the ball? does it look like his teammates level of play improve when he's out there?

a guy like duncan might not have played with visible emotion or charisma, but he did play with quiet confidence, demanding the ball because he knew he could make a play with it.

Wiggins reminds me a lot of Dwight... not game wise... but personality. He was always a joker and a goof. He's a great kid though, super nice... a lot of friends... But unless he gets his jumper right... He won't be anything special... I hope he falls to the Spurs or something... that would be cool.

so what i'm gathering is that wiggins, the most hyped name coming out of HS since lebron, is not exactly the near lock superstar that lebron, shaq, ewing, etc were?

The way I see it, this draft is the strongest since 2003. If you have a top 5 pick you should be ecstatic cause you are getting a really good player. I could see Wiggins slipping if he ends up having a mediocre season while someone like Jabari Parker dominates and wins the title. Remember people were saying Carmelo should have been the #1 pick over LeBron because he was proven in college.

The aura thing is getting misunderstood here, though I do like the humor. He basically just means Wiggins has no impact on the court.

No, that isn't what aura means.
