DSJ has been god awful on defense thus far from what I have seen, coasting and playing matador, I will still likely take him 3rd, but not ahead of Josh and Fultz.

Tatum and Giles, if he shows to be alright, are probably the other 2 guys, but behind the top3, rounding up the top5, I think Ball, Ntilikina, and Isaac go right after, then it's more open but I'd go with the defensive guys, like OG, and athletic animals like Miles Bridges, before I touch guys like Monk.

If we are talking strictly defense, I have DSJ fifth in that regard out of the crop of PGs.

you are way too high on Ntilikina. If you told me he would go #14 I wouldn't be surprised. Expect the 4 point guards, Jackson, Tatum, Giles, Adebayo, Bridges, Monk, Leaf, Markkanen, Diallo and Monk to go before him. You might even see OG, Rabb and Ferguson as well. I never underestimate the amount of stupidity in NBA front offices but if talent is arguably equal you have to take the better size and offensive talent. It would be a fireable offense to take him top 10.

I think they are quite similar in terms of athleticism however at the same stage DSJ is far more advanced in terms of understanding the nuances of the game esp. the pick and roll. From what I remember Bledsoe played alot more offball so couldn't see his pg skills as much but he has tendency to have tunnel vision and play with reckless abandon. DSJ is alot more patient on offense makes better reads and controls pace better, but where I think DSJ separates himself is he can create offense for himself and others off the dribble alot better than Bledsoe.

Physically sure but you can't dismiss DJS's actual PG skills.

He's far more skilled at running an offense than Bledsoe ever was in college.

This dude had a triple double against a really good Virginia Tech team. Impressive. Knee seems fine to me.

GMs love a couple of next level traits - athletic upside and alpha mentality.

I wonder if Smith can mount a case ahead of Fultz on those 2 differences.

I'm Lonzo's #1 fan but I have Smith JR taking #1 after tonight. I thought before the season started he'd be #1 but he didn't shoot too well at first. It's why Fultz got all the hype and he didn't.

Wasn't like he played awful but he didn't light it up. He's starting to come into his own now and there's no doubt Smith Jr has all the traits to become a superstar.

If I were GM and the draft were tomorrow, I'd rather be picking at 2 and letting some other guy risk his job picking between Fultz and Smith!

Smith gets the hype for the triple double today, but Fultz was only 5 rebounds off having 4 triple doubles.

Fultz have both of those as well, every bit of an athlete, esp if you count the length.

He was always big on State. For some reason K and the staff started to favor Derryck Thornton instead probably because he could reclassify (which he did). Once they knew Thornton was then going to transfer DSJ had already committed to State and Duke went with Frank Jackson.
