His functional athleticism isn't anywhere near Oladipo. He's not very quick with the ball in his hands nor does he play above the rim often, and never does in traffic. It's a major concern about him that people aren't talking about enough.

On this thread, it's been talked about his rim issues. There is no perfect prospect at 19 years old, these issues are easily fixable imo and do not worry me in the least. If it were my decision I would draft him without hesitation.

Ah, the old Trey Burke rationalization. Gets you every time.

I'm sorry Trey Burke is a silly comparison, He was small and unathletic but had great skills. At very least use a comparable prospect to use as a warning.

I don't get why this guy isn't in the lottery. Should easily be ranked above Lonnie Walker.

I don't think Okogie's athleticism is as good as his combine stats, but he doesn't need to be a more explosive athlete than Kawhi or Butler to be a great prospect in my opinion

Yes. He moved to Georgia when he was 3.

I did next to no research on this kid coming into the draft, but as I continue to read up on him I believe Minnesota was a great spot for him to land.

The coach will love him. Wiggins will hate him.

Between Okogie and KBD you've gone a long way to solving your wing defense. Both guys are exceptional on that end, especially adding that to Butler.

Yeah, it’s nice to see the Timberwolves actually have depth. Hopefully Thibs plays them.

I'm not sure they solved anything as long as KAT is a 4 and Wiggins is still on the team.

You’re acting like anything was going to happen in their first two years with Thibs. Give them time to figure out their game, they’re still super young. Wiggins in particular hasn’t had any constant people around him. Either his teammates are traded, he or someone else is injured, there’s a different coach, etc. Its an adjustment to go from Ricky Rubio and Kris Dunn to Jeff Teague, Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler and Jamal Crawford dominating the ball. Jeff Teague and Crawford are also awful defenders. And none of their bigs are good at sliding on the perimeter. Getting these two guys allows Minnesota to have stretches where someone can defend the wing next to someone who can’t really defend and it allows them to be able to switch with interior players. It’s all about diversifying options.

Great so the 12 minutes per game Thibs plays them might be ok.

Huh? Towns barely played PF last year.

He's a de facto 4 as long Thibs keeps playing Taj with him. People don't seem to get it. That is like playing two 5's on the court. It doesn't matter if you call one a 4 and the other a 5. They are both 5's.

Now if Thibs is smart he will recognize that KBD is a 4 and start him there eventually.

A good comp to Okogie is Wade Baldwin. Similar size, athleticism, shooting, but neither are very explosive or creative playing on the ball. Maybe NBA spacing will help Okogie in ways we can't really see yet, and he will succeed where Baldwin failed.

Baldwin was cut by Memphis primarily due to personality issues. No indication of that with okogie.
