How is he a tweener? The guy is handling the ball and dishing it both on the move and from the top of the key. His passes are pinpoint and super impressive. Jamison often operated from the mid post/high post in when attacking vs. Kuminga who is attacking from the three point line at times.

Yeah, Kuminga is a pure wing. If he isn't a wing, then there's no such as wings.

Just love the foundation of this kids game. That jumper is super workable. It is a simple jumper and will be very easy for him to become a consistent jump shooter, no major hitches or anything in it.

That open court speed man. 1:35 in those highlights you see him put the afterburners on. Fantastic athleticism for a guy his speed.

Also looks like his handle is coming along nicely over the last year or so.

Love everything about this kids game. He isnt the AD/KD/Zion tier prospect for me, but he is in the tier right below them. Im that high on the kid.

Kuminga just has IT. You just don't see guys as athletic as him, already with the feel he possesses.

Well, the tweener archetype was mostly a lie, which several teams showed to deadly effect during that time period. I'm just saying that he seems to have some of the qualities those players who really revolutionized the power forward position at that time had. He seems to have a really good motor, he can handle the ball, he can shoot, he is a good to great athlete for his size, etc. He also seems to be quite crafty. I'm more than happy to have better comparisons thrown out, I'm trying to get a read on what people think of him. Everything I've seen (again, limited to highlights - some of the other guys I've seen in full games before) reads as a guy who should predominantly be a power forward but can switch between positions if needed (just like Marion, Jamison, Harrington, etc. did). Right now the power forward position is pretty weak, so it makes more sense (to me) to compare him to that era of players. He also seems great at relocating and reading the defense off ball (which Jamison was a master of).

He isn't operating from the high post in though. He appears to be effective with his back to the basket, but he mostly operates along the perimeter, so he does not function like a traditional PF. He will be handling the ball a ton and look to create for others. His ability to facilitate pretty much negates the comparisons you mention. You will see what I am talking about when you see more of his tape.

I may stink at comparisons (I don't like to make them), but perhaps a rich man's 2020-21 Jerami Grant.

tweener used to be a negative connotation but not anymore, right now teams look for tweeners, and stay away from positionally locked players, yes Kuminga is a tweener in that he can play both the 3 and 4 at the a high level, but that's just what a wing is in today's NBA, and he's a pure wing.

TJ Warren-ish, but just better obviously, much better at the same stage, better athletic profile

Fischella wrote:Nah not at all, Kuminga reminds me of typical wing scorers, poised on ball, flexible/fluid really strong, I think he is best as a PF with space to attack, not a super athlete but good enough with size

Avenues to hit high end are polish as a scorer and creator/passer, and he already shows glimpses of that

...

Maybe Antawn Jamison w/plus defense? I just see a very circa 2006 'tweener' forward who should excel as a team's second option, I like what little I've seen so far.

dunno about + defense, I'd say more like neutral

he is a different player than Jamison but that's not bad in terms of impact

I don't know about Dix's potential but I love watching him play. I'm a fan of players with his body type, thick, strong, crafty

JG is such a dynamo athlete, absolutely ridiculous how quick, explosive and efficient he is in his movements

Green's athleticism is bonkers imo, just the way he keeps elevating is stupid lol.
