I think this is spot on. Defensive specialist who is mainly a spot up shooter, maybe can play some small ball 5 in certain lineup configs.

Ya this is my comp as well. Maybe a bit more connectivity than Grant.

I see Yaxel as PJ Washington and Graves as Grant Williams.

Those are really excellent comps. I think people go overboard with player comparisons and “hybrids” and forget that just becoming a rotation player, let alone a starter, is a very good outcome for non-top 5 picks

I fear that the low end for Graves is Zeke Nnaji. He just looks stiff. I really want to believe in him though.

Can he carve out a Gui Santos role?

my comp is Santi Aldama. He badly needs to get in much better shape in order to be able to defend at the next level. Super high BBIQ, good shooter and would make for a good PnR partner. I think he's getting drafted, not sure if in the first but might sneak in.
Foes..you DO realize I don't see your posts....right?

He played 75% of his minutes at the 5 in college. People are way overselling him as a forward.

Think he’d be so nice on the Spurs.

We really are in an analytics based game. Looking at shot charts, Boozer, Yaxel and Graves all just avoided taking any midrange shots- that is essentially the difference between them being analytics guys and guys like Dybantsa, Ament and Peat.

If you want to look good on paper, only shoot layups and catch and shoot threes.

Obi Toppin played even more of his college minutes at center, did that make him an NBA center?

How is Obi Toppin even relevant to the discussion? The concern is Allen Graves functioned best as a backup C, struggled at PF and seems to lack the athleticism to guard the perimeter - he was prone to getting blown by. The hands are elite but I have no idea how he fits defensively in the NBA right now

I think the feel, hands, shot is worth a late 1st pick but not much higher than that.
