Athleticism is the only think Knox has over Porter and I dont think the difference is all that drastic. Skill wise it isnt close between the two, Porter is far more skilled than Knox and it isnt all that easy to teach someone as raw as Knox the skill level that Porter already has, and this is coming from someone who isnt even the biggest Porter fan.

I actually don't think it's close. Knox has more bounce than Pokemon
Praying for Burrow

Who's the best scorer in this draft? I'm not even going to lie...I'm pessimistic about the future of the Kings. Through 6 games, Fox is our leading scorer at around 13pts a game...
Kings desperately need a scorer.

In my opinion its Porter Jr. Hes been a terrible defender (may change come college), but I think hes the best scorer in the class and should be able to provide scoring and rebounding from day 1. He would be a nice building block to go alongside Fox.

The difference is defense. Knox will be able to D up 3s and 4s. I don't think Porter will guard a chair. I get Melo vibes from him.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft
I've liked Knox for a while. His handle and passing aren't that tight yet, but he runs the floor and maneuvers well enough that he's difficult to stop. His ceiling will be based on how well his shooting develops. Free-throws look good so far.

Knox looked dominant in the first exhibition, let's see how he looks vs a decent midmajor

Porter is over a year older than Knox and has been specializing in basketball pretty much since birth, whereas Knox (was a quarterback who had D1 football offers as a high school sophomore) has only been 100% focused on basketball for the last two years. Would agree that the skill gap is large, but given those circumstances it wouldn't be entirely surprising if Knox ended up closing the gap.

Knox feels like Rudy Gay when I've watched him, crazy athletic and long, believes in his shooting way too much compared to what his touch is at the moment and has 0 clue about how to read the game 99% of the time.

Here is Evan Daniels big board to start the season
https://duke.247sports.com/Article/Big-Board-Top-20-prospects-for-the-2018-NBA-Draft-109796264
For those that dont want to click it, its the usual talking points (not close to as deep as last year but a better chance to have elite talent at the top). He also has the usual suspects for 1-5.
1) Bagley
2) Ayton
3) Bamba
4) Doncic
5) Porter
6) Jackson
7) Williams
8) Bridges
9) Wendell
10) Sexton

I think as of now I would have Bagley 7th behind Doncic, Ayton, Porter, Bridges, Bamba, and Jaren Jackson
The hype around him is insane

Re: 2018 NBA Draft
I would agree but I read reports about Bagley during Duke camp, suggesting he's much more polished offensively than people thought, so that's why I'm waiting for a season opener.
But in HS he was <70%ft and <30%3pt shooter, so I have to agree that I don't think he's as good as people are thinking. He's still great prospect because of size, athleticism and combination of ballhandling, speed, shooting potential and inside game, but I don't expect him to materialise ''best prospect from HS since LeBron'' predictions.
For me right now:
Ayton
Bagley, Bamba, Doncic (depend on fit)
Porter, Jackson
Williams, Bridges and Co.

"For a power forward, Bagley, who stands 6-foot-11 and has an 8-9 standing reach, is the full package"
Isn't a 8'9 standing reach pretty bad for a PF? That number can't be true right, as he has a 7'0 ½ wingspan according to draftexpress. Shouldn't it be over 9'0 if he is 6'11 and has a wingspan around 7'1?

Re: 2018 NBA Draft
But even if Bagley reaches Anthony Davis skill level, his wingspan is 7'0 ½" wingspan, part of what makes Davis so elite is his 7'5 ½ wingspan.
So I don't see very high potential here.

I watched their pre-season game against NMSU and Bagley was comically bad, so not sure what those reports were about

I watched this game too, still this was one match where Duke as a team played (I assume) under their normal level. I just think that when NBA scout says Bagley looks more polished offensively than he thought, we have to take this opinion into consideration.
But generally, I agree with you that Bagley is overrated as a prospect after HS, I don't see "WOW factor" in his skillset. Doncic is elite combination of shooting and playmaking, Bamba has DPOTY potential because of his Gobert-like size, Ayton is athlete on his own level with great offensive game, and Bagley is solid in everything, but without size or skillset of elite big man in this moment. Still can finish as really great player when he develops outside shot because of his athleticism, inside game, great movement and ballhandling, but not generational prospect at all.

Marvin Bagley is 6'9.5" without shoes with short arms (7'0.5" wingspan). That is not very good for an NBA PF. He is on the same level as Josh Jackson. Ayton is the only potential super stud in this draft if he can get his motor on all the time.
