Well you just defined Collin Sexton, who apparently you'd take ahead of Young so....

I don't think it's a forgone conclusion that Young goes before Sexton. ESPN (Givony n Schmitz) has Young 7th n Sexton 9th in their rankings. Conference n NCAA tourney will have a big say in where they land.

Young should go number 1. He’s a prodigy. I would be surprised if he isn’t a star in the NBA. He’s really good.

Anyone who doubts Young should be watching this game. Man, he's such a monster.

How many guards in NCAA history have had this kind of gravity on the court?

Unsure how getting your points from the line is a bad thing.

Jimmer is the last one to come to mind.

That's not a positive comparison.

Only thing I worry about with this is how durable he is and how much can he take from a health perspective. From a pure basketball perspective I don't care how a guy gets his shots. Also, it's a boon to his own team's defense being able to set after a made FTA.

I think he'll be very good but maybe just shy of an all-star, because even though his release is super-quick, it starts low - almost like an old-fashioned set shot, and I think the longer NBA defenders will give him some problems.

Release point matters a lot more against length than where you start your motion. Also length is really negligible along the perimeter when it comes to shooting due to the added spacing of the NBA game. It's one of the reasons why someone like IT can thrive offensively.

Jimmer was never this good. Trae Young is better and more disruptive as a freshman than Jimmer was as a senior. Young is basically averaging more of everything on slightly better efficiency in slightly fewer minutes against better competition, on average. This comparison really needs to die. Honestly, people are overthinking this one. He's just plain good.

I'm a huge BYU fan and naturally a big fan of Jimmer. You simply can't compare the two. When you start comparing small guards to Young - I've heard Jimmer, Chris Jackson, even Curry - the comparison falls flat where Young is a great passer with great vision and blows those guys out of the water. Jimmer averaged about 4 assists a game. he was a solid passer/playmaker, but he is nowhere near Trae Young - ultimately that is where Young separates himself. Also, a much better ball handler than Jimmer ever was.

Trae does not blow Steph out of the water in terms of passing (or Chris Jackson tbh). Bobby Knight once said that Steph is the best passer he had ever seen coming out of college. If Steph were playing for D'Antoni (or when he played for Nellie) you'd see much more of that.

Tell that to Lonzo though.

Not sure I get the point. Lonzo gets his shot off every single time. In fact he gets the entire shot clock to do so.
