To his credit, he's not using the fact that he should probably be in the NBA already as an excuse for lazy play. Carrying himself very professionally, to the point where you almost wish he'd try more things just for fun and to explore the limits of his game instead of sticking to what he knows best.

True
He totally plays to his strenghts and tries to avoid his weaknesses. He is not trying and forcing alot in-game.
He said he will only start shooting threes and long twos's once he feels he can make them at a respectable clip.
Thats totally unusual for a young Kid.

Yeah, what I've seen from Simmons on the court, just generally, is that he takes advantages where he finds them. I think he's a player who is going to constantly evolve and/or surprise people with different aspects of his game as his career progresses. For example, the RealGM podcast today criticized him for scoring 31% of his points in transition and 15% in the post. To me, those are just evidences of his BBIQ: he recognizes what's available, and he takes it. Based on what I've seen of his games and the competition he's facing, why wouldn't he score in those ways? But I don't think he's going to have any trouble playing the 3 or a kind of "positionless point" once he get's his jumper straight, which I'm sure he will.

I'm liking Ingram the more I see him, and would be thrilled if my team moved up to the #2 spot (if I were a fan of a lottery team), but I'm buying all the hype on Simmons.

Sorry if this question has been asked already, but what team would you be most excited to see Simmons/Ingram on? No homer answers, please.

I bring it up because I noticed yesterday that BB-reference.com had the Bucks with like the fourth-best chance at the #1 pick. Granted, their model is flawed and by its nature always in flux, but it hadn't yet occurred to me that the Bucks could get Simmons. I got pretty excited at the thought of seeing Giannis rim-running while Middleton spots up and Jabari does a bit of both, all off of Simmons rebounding and leading the break.

I think Ingram is a much better fit for the Bucks. They are in desperate need for guys to help spread the floor. Ingram helps with that big time. For Simmons, I think his best fit is Boston or Minny. Boston is top 10 in 3s made a game so they already spread the floor and I think he would just fit in that offense. Defense though is the big issue there, Simmons is a very poor defender and him and Sully down low is not a good combo. That's where Minny and KAT make a great spot for him.

Lost a couple of times on D and needs to work on his J but...

If this kid even realises 80% of his potential he is a superstar in the making.

His vision, speed, athleticism and basketball IQ is scary good.

At 6'10 and 250, his frame looks like it can easily put on a lot of muscle.

Whatever NBA team takes him #1 will be a contender in the very near future. I'd love for him to go to Lakers or Boston. In a big market team Australian basketball could take off.

Im waiting to see it. I just dont see it yet. He attempted one jumper today so far and it was a wide open 10 footer and he air balled it. I think many people just say, its shooting he will get a jumper sooner or later. But his jumper needs a lot of work. Hes been very quite on the boards tonight as well. And like you said he gets lost on D a lot. Not saying he is a bad player or a bust. I would still take him #1, I just dont know if he is a superstar in the making

The game isn't all about the jumper. And it's not like his jumper is broken either. There's fairly good form in his action.

He has impacted this game in a lot of different ways. He's actually lifted his defence as this games gone on and has been as attacking on the offence as he's been all season so far.

He is playing the point and literally controlling a very poor LSU team.

He doesn't even turn 20 years old until July.

This first half might just be the most aggressive I have seen Ben Simmons play all season long. He's always deferring to his team mates in the half court but tonight he is looking to take it inside himself time and time again.

No but having a jumper is a very important skill to have. He falls asleep way to much on D, he just did it again to allow an open layup. Again I think hes a very good player. I would take him #1. His jumper and D are major question marks for me which makes we question if hes going to be a superstar. I do think his jumper needs a lot of work as well, it is bad form.

I agree with this. It is nice to see how aggressive he is playing.

Ben Simmons is a special player. The combination of size, speed and strength he has is very rare. He's one of the fastest 6'10'' prospects I've ever seen and one of the very few of those that doesn't give up anything on strength.

Yes, his jump shot is questionable. He has a long way to go there. But as long as his handles are tight and he can get to the rim in the next level, I think he'll be a perennial All-Star. Superstar? Too early to say. You never know.

Not watching the game right now but I see he had 18 at the half. What a beast. Any jumpers so far?

He took one and it was an air ball. First or second shot of the game.

He should have a few more assists but the rest of his team are shooting terribly.

Nope. The one jumper he put up was an airball. He is extremely fired up tonight and driving inside quite often. I don't know if its the start of conference play but he has a different demeanor tonight. As good as Simmons was playing this season, this is the side of Simmons people were looking for.

Ben is one of the most exciting prospects i've seen in a long time. He is single handedly keeping LSU in this ballgame. He is a one man wrecking crew saving LSU defensively today.
