Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
I'm elevating Tyler Tanner to the lottery.
I'll probably take him before Philon or Mikel Brown.
Tanner has the highest finishing rate and highest rim attempt among all guards. He is the biggest 5'10" player on the planet. I don't think other guards being 1-2 inches larger is going to matter.

Which team do you expect to take him in the lottery?

Too many better, bigger guards IMO. I like Tanner, but is is very unlikely he goes ahead of guys like Philon and Brown.

It's my rating of prospect (big board) not whether I think NBA team will take him
I have him as small guard 3 after Flemings and Acuff. All guard 5 after Wagler and Peterson.
Here is my estimate of direct blow by at rim attempts. Think dunks or layups for all the guards going lotto.
This doesn't count the acrobatic finishes or contested finishes from side, off glass layups off good drives. I have those stats too. But all of these are estimates based on coordinates, albeit consistently for all prospect.

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
One more name to think about, although not sure he gets drafted. He's at the Portsmouth Invitational.
Carson Cooper, Michigan State. He's a big athlete (6'11), who has gotten a lot better as finisher and broke out during his senior season playing for Tom Izzo. Someone might take a chance that he can be a rim runner/screener/energy bench big on the next level. Because he's white, I'm sure the comparisons are going to be made to Chris "Birdman" Andersen or Mason Plumlee. That's probably his archetype for staying in the league. I think he just may be able to hustle his way into a camp invite/two-way deal similar to how Dylan Cardwell (Auburn) has done with Sacramento.
I also think Malik Dia (Ole Miss) has game as a big body forward (6'9 250) with good feet and handles, but honestly, he seems like a guy who while he does have professional level talent, he may have to grind his way through the G-League to make the NBA. The Anthony Mason type of hybrid big (he doesn't have anywhere close to Mason's vision/passing ability tho) isn't really a thing in this era, even though I think there is some value to extract out of someone like that. I guess my ideal archetype for him to aspire to, is becoming a taller version of Keldon Johnson, who can play a bench role as a physical scorer/rebounder off the bench.

He's a much better prospect than Brown Jr. who i think is going to struggle alot more than people think with his handle, shot selection and decision-making. Philon is a well above average guard prospect who will be a better scorer and Tanner probably a better all-around guard. I do also think he's lotto though.

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
Tanner is the:
Smallest guard this year drafted
Is the best defender among all guards
Has the highest BPM (my version, slightly differently calibrated from Bart and Bball Ref's)
Second highest SPM (a strength and time decayed BPM)
Has the highest at rim attempts and is the best finisher at rim
Has top of the pack rates in every stat.
Is the most underrated prospect this year
http://vstatball.com?s=c50e16
If he was 3 inches larger, I would take him #3. If he was 6'6", I would take him #1.

Also, went 0-2 vs Acuff
Game 1:
Tanner 3/10, 11 pts, 6 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
Acuff 7/14, 17 pts, 5 assists, 2 turnovers
Game 2:
Tanner 3/15, 15 pts, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 turnover
Acuff 9/20, 30 pts, 11 assists, 4 turnovers
Yet you have people talk about how bad Acuff is defensively and how much better Tanner is defensively but Acuff outplayed him both games.

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
Braylon Mullins 10.4% FTr ranked dead last among 34 shooting guard prospects I evaluated for this draft class. He shot 34% from three which is supposed to be his skill in the NBA- I don't know how anyone can make a case that he is a better prospect than Liam McNeely who went 28th last year.

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
I'm not going to put any weight on guard outcome matchups. Guards don't play each other one on one.
At least for bigs. You can look at some post defense against each other.

Acuff was cooking Tanner when they had him guarding him, so much so they started trying to hide Tanner on other guys. Guess, what in the NBA there aren't other guys to hide Tanner on at 5-11. He has to guard the point guard and if he can't guard them then he can't play. This isn't a LaMelo or even Curry situation where maybe they can hide on a wing cuz of height. It is a sit on the bench type of situation if he can't guard the other teams point guard.

Re: 2026 NBA DRAFT CLASS
You watch another postseason game where Darius Garland is completely useless defensively because he is just too small and it definitely becomes hard to see how those small guards are supposed to work during the playoffs.
They have to be Brunson like offensively to make it work or as strong as a Kyle Lowry or Fred Van Vleet. I don't know these little guards are damn near unplayable this time of year.

I like Tanner. He has a long way to go to be a starter. Plays a lot like Anthony Black without the size and Black isn’t even a starter.
I think these small guards only make it if they are electric on offense. I’d take Okorie over Tanner because of it.
I see Tanner as Tre Jones. Really good backup.
