he's a cornerstone piece, would've gone #1 last year and the 2020 class for sure, probably would go #1 next year as well if he was in that class.

I don't think he goes 1st last year. Banchero a 6'10 guy with perimeter skills and Chet a 7 footer with an all around game and dpoy defense is way more intriguing imo. It's not like he lit up the g league or something either that's where the disconnect is with me. If he was dominating down there sure but he put up pedestrian numbers in the g league for some reason he's a lock for #2. Makes no sense.

i'd bet that Orlando would've went with Scoot over Paolo if they were both in the 22 class together and we didn't see Paolo's rookie season in the NBA
I disagree I could see him going 3 easily

one of the most impressive pre draft interviews ive seen

love the part about him learning how to handle a lot of flights playing in the GL...this is something people don't talk about...a lot of prospects never actually adjust to NBA type schedules and all the flights and that ends up affecting their game

he looks absolutely monstrous on the court, his build, length, hands, speed to power, strength, really we haven't seen this combo at PG in a while, very Chauncey/Baron Davis vibes here

This may be accurate given just how underhyped Paolo was (and honestly still is), but considering he was already doing many of the same things in college that he's doing in the NBA, I don't think a smart person passes on that potential. A big with guard skills has a lot more value than a guard with guard skills.

Yeah, his extra gear and burst are pretty special. Given his low shot volume last season, it’s kinda impossible to know what kind of shooter he is currently.

I still have yet to see him finish or pass with his left hand, though.

It seems he's already a pro, with mature, killer vibe.

I really don't understand how we had a few people saying he's not all that as an athlete. He looks special to me.

yea it's a weird take

i think it's b/c he doesn't have this crazy hang time that guys like Ja or Jalen Green have but he's way stronger and is packing at least 30 pounds on both

but there is no doubt his combo of physical tools is elite

The only players that size with a better combo of functional power + explosiveness are basically Rose/Westbrook. There are a handful of guys that are a bit faster and more explosive, but don't have anywhere near the level of strength, like Morant/Fox/Wall. Add in some little things like amazing body control and giant hands and its obvious his physical package is elite.

I feel like there have been so many goofy narratives surrounding this dude to try to drive discussion/engagement/intrigue about this draft.

As a Portland fan I will gladly take thos narratives if it somehow convinces the Hornets not to take him at two. I know that won't happen, but let a lady dream!

I actually wouldn't be shocked if he slipped to 4. He's definitely not going two over Brandon miller. The hornets would be nuts to take him over miller at this rate.

I think teams would be absolutely nuts to take Miller or anyone not named Wembanyama over him.

You don’t draft for fit/team needs if you want to be successful in the long term.

Too me this kid looks like Raymond Felton plus, with a slightly worse 3 ball, a bit more bounce and can score a bit better.

Before any one gets offended, remember he was 5th over all in 2005.

I'm taking miller and probably Bilal over him and I think there are one or two more players you can't take over him that will end up being better.

I think you still have a good shot at him. Charlotte is that silly.

When has it worked out for a rebuilding team to build around 2 young PG's?

The Kings tried to do that but took a major step forward once they traded 1 of their PG's away.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Fox didn't want to play with Haliburton and stopped trying. If LaMelo doesn't want to play with Scoot they can trade LaMelo. I don't think that is going to happen because LaMelo seems to get along with everyone and they are already friends off the court. There isn't any basketball reason those two wouldn't fit together.

Both Scoot and Lamelo are at their best on ball. To maximize their talents, they must be separated. Doesn't mean they won't take Scoot regardless.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

They can each play on ball 24 minutes and off ball 10-12. LaMelo shoots like 41% on threes off the catch and spaces out to the logo.

Their combined natural playmaking (most difficult skill to develop in the NBA per Spinella) would make every Hornet better off the ball, including LaMelo & Scoot. Neither have ever played with a teammate who can get them great looks.

The whole supporting cast would be getting great looks. With one elite playmaker on the floor at all times, they'd carve up bench units.

There is zero chance Scoot falls to 3, let alone 4. The Blazers could offer Shaedon Sharpe + pick 3 and it's still a N-O.

you take Scoot and figure out the fit later, it's that simple.

if the fit has a ceiling you trade Melo and get a nice return.
