sounds like a passive player.
same story in AAU and HS ball.
he's never been an aggressive player at any level.

I've been done arguing this. All PJ3 threads will be bumped a year from now.

Don't say I didn't tell you so...

And what happens when he falls on his face like Aminu?

You gonna bump them then?

Are you gonna show up and eat crow when we bump them for you?

Just curious... :P

Aminu was never the prospect(or at least shouldn't have been) that PJIII is. His upside accrued from his massive wing span.

Like you told us he'll be a higher pick then Anthony Davis.

Ya, we're still waiting on that one.

Perry Jones may be a bust, he may be really good. But no ones actually dumb arguing over him. Even people like me who support him know he has the potential to bust, we just happen to be the ones willing to risk it.

There is no way Perry ends up a bust.

LMAO @ the Aminu comparison. So many people have opinions on Perry who should really keep their mouth shut.

just because you put three  's doesn't mean your right he is clearly a raw 3 man

He might be the most overrated player in this draft, and this is a draft class that includes Harrison Barnes, Myers Leonard, and MKG :o

It's still a matter of the physical aspects of the game getting over-rated while the mental side gets underestimated.
At the high levels, a basketball game is complex and fast. You need to be aware of all that's happening and process how to react,respond,act.. You need to do it again a quarter second later.
some players basically know how the game works, have the physical tools, but can't keep pace and don't have the instincts or creative side to get beyond a reliance on training.

Aggressive/passive also can reflect how a player deals with the reality that the game is quite physical for anyone, and especially the big men. A guy does not need to weigh 255,but he has to be able to battle in the paint with the guys who ARE 255. Some, like PJ3,tend to avoid the dirty work, the bump and bang stuff. I remember when Marvin Williams was hyped as a great pick,a future star. Well...he had muscles. He didn't make a lot of use of them. Even in college, he really did not want to get in there and battle with the big boys. It seemed that way with Perry. Q Acy was banging inside...I was amazed to find out he is just 6-7. He plays like 6-10. Perry...plays like 6-7.

 and even that's being generous. Perry Jones plays extremely soft.

You are going to be eating your words soon enough.

As for Jones III, he has poor defensive awareness, fails to step up at critical junctures in the game, and lacks the intensity on the court to really separate himself. Hopefully he will work hard to get strong enough to finish against NBA big men. At this stage, I see him being a bust with solid physical tools and a good offensive skill level (in terms of his shooting ability). I just don't like his intangibles.

If he cannot dominate in college, he will get crushed in the pros.

He is weak and has an undeveloped offensive game.

Anyone picking him near 7th will regret it.

In 5 years he will be the best player out of this draft, if he lands in the right situation

People are underrating Perry Jones's "mental skills"

They're defenitly not great, but they're not horrible either. He defenitly plays hard, cares, and wants to win just not a lot. He has the mentality of a Lamar Odom.

He mental skills will hold him back from being great but not necessarily good

Simply not true.

You have to look how well he'll be able to do the things he's going to be asked to do in the pros, and you have to do it by team.
Too many variables (including stuff like system and surrounding talent on the college side) to look at it so directly.
