I think the main thing with Ross is that he's very much a "system player". This may have been why he wasn't projected as high, but under a coach like Casey he'll end up looking like the right pick at 8, maybe even better.

He certainly can't be a steal at 8, but that won't stop him from exceeding expectations.

Yeah sorry, not all of us are Psychology majors. We decided to study something more useful.

The only way he could go down as a steal would be if he became an all-star, which is unlikely. If he's a JRich level starting SG he'll be a "putting par" pick since the 8th best player in the draft is very likely to be in that "starter/non all-star zone".

Early returns would certainly indicate he wasn't a steal. Has been pretty bad offensively and hasn't impacted the game much in other areas.

Just take a break from that Katy Perry album you've been listening to and turn it to a hiphop station or BET for a few minutes and u should figure it out.

Take a break from Katy Perry and listen to Kanye West?

I still wonder, Why did the Raptors took Ross ahead of Drummond,Rivers and especially Lamb if they want a SG

After summer league he is definitely more of a reach than a steal...

Would people be just as disappointed of that was Lamb who was picked at 8th instead of Ross??

Lamb looks like a stud n a very promising prospect from what I've seen of him

probably not. lamb was more of a known quantity.
judging by the discussion on the raps board, i think they'd be satisfied with a lamb pick.
mock drafts have a way of shaping fans' opinions, especially those who dont follow college ball. i think if washington got more exposure there would've been less backlash for the pick. ross looked like a lotto player all yr.

Exactly, and he absolutely murdered in his workouts. I doubt many of the teams he came in for were surprised that he went 8th.

The Raptors don't need a big, the fact that Drummond fell to their spot isn't encouraging either (I still think he'll be solid, but he screams 'will never reach full potential').

They took Ross over Rivers because they simply feel he's a better player. Better defense, better spot up shooter, better athlete, etc. Rivers mentioned Ross gave him his most problems in their one on ones during the workouts.

Lamb? Yeah, that could be a mistake. Unless he becomes a 6'5 TMac I doubt the gap will be wide enough to be a huge mistake, but he's certainly the better ballhandler and mid range scorer. I wonder how serious his shoulder concerns really are, because it doesn't make sense that such a great prospect would fall to 12. It must be something that's a risk to be chronic.

TBH, I LOVED this pick when it happened.. but only cause I THOUGHT Ross played the SF (saw him sort of like Barnes). But then I kept hearing he was an SG... so, I guess we'll have to see how it plays out before judging him...

I do like what I'm hearing about his defense though, and he does have a pretty sweet stroke.

You could add Jae Crowder and PJ3 to that list as well as Quincy Miller potentially.

I think Ross will be a good 6th man I don't see him as a steal when Lamb was there. I like Lamb better as a pick as he looks like he could be a explosive scorer and a great talent down the road. I hope Ross impresses us and helps this franchise cause we need it.
