As a HEAT fan, I approve. So long as his health checks out during personal workouts/physical.
McGary isn't the longest center, and isn't really a rim protector. But, I could see him as the eventual replacement for the roles of Birdman and Udonis Haslem - who each have 1 to 2 more years. He's thicker and stronger than both, and can compliment Bosh by defending the more powerful of the bigman matchups, and being a great rebounder.
He excels as both a pick-n-roll player and defender, and has great feet. His mobility is essential for the HEAT's system.
He seems to have a high BBIQ and great passing ability for a bigman, which is crucial because the HEAT depend so much on spacing. His jumpshot may be a mystery (or potential weakpoint), but the reason Birdman is successful for the HEAT despite a jumpshot is his ability to always know where to be on the court to maximize spacing and exploit lanes.
Lastly, his energy and effort plays will be a welcomed addition to the HEAT squad.
