This guys actually gets paid to scout for a living? Lol

Lol I hope he's not serious for his sake.

Wasn't this the same guy that said Doncic was a Lebron type generational talent?

I'm actually a big fan of Dean's hot takes. He doesn't get paid to scout. He is a self-employed basketball gambler. They are quite a few of these out there. Most famous guy everyone has heard of is probably Haralabos (Bob) Voulgaris.

Dean's track record is probably as good as it gets in terms of talent evaluation.

What's a self employed basketball gambler?? Never heard of this lol

He's much more agile than Blake. His jumper is also much further along and he is also known for his defense which Blake never was.

Bagley/Carter will be a monster front court. They will dominate the boards so much I don't think defense will be an issue. Bagley is like a more explosive version of Bosh.

Ya Bosh with SF athleticism and agility is the best comparison I can think of for Bagley. That is a freakish prospect when you think of it.

As a Duke fan Im dying to see that front court. I was not ready to watch Bolden try and play starter minutes this year, he is far from being capable of doing that. The thing with Bagley and Carter, theyre both good defenders and both move pretty well for their size. Defensively I think theyre going to be great together and ya Duke should have no problems on the boards if this does happen.

It means you make enough money gambling to have to pay taxes on it and it is your sole source of income. Your job.

Interesting - I didn't know it was a literal defenition.

Can you report income even if you bet illegally on offshore websites? Or maybe he lives in Vegas?

Well, since these guys (at least Voulgaris) are so well known, I'm sure the IRS watches them. And he bets in Vegas (I'm guessing). The real sharps (big money gamblers) are likely not using those offshore sites...they probably have max limits.

But these pros can probably cut down their tax bill a lot..for one you deduct all gambling losses for winnings, and they probably work doing their "analysis" out of their house, so the deduct that...use their car to drive to the casino and deduct that, etc...so they can minimize it to an extent. I don't know too many details but they have to do a ton of extensive analysis and they will watch spreads move.

One of the espn insiders is somewhat interesting to read during the NFL season...as he reports on who the public is taking (percentages) and who the sharps like (percentages). His name's Dave Tuley. He likes better on underdogs and is kind of hit or miss. But I like to read him before my picks I do in the contest we run here during the NFL season.

Basically, these people find inefficiencies in the Vegas betting market (under or overvalued bets), similar what hedge funds do for financial instruments. In reality, they aren't even 'gamblers' but rather calculated risk takers (usually with proprietary models combined with actually watching basketball). Over the long run, they will make money if they have an edge over the house in terms of talent/game/score/team evaluation.

So from what I have been reading on the internet is that he does want to reclassify, if he can, is a different matter.

Would this guy be #1 in the '17 class?

Most likely, yeah. He's one of those guys that would probably be #1 in most drafts, based on what we've seen.

The anticipation is killing me, for those who know hoops recruiting, what are the chances he does reclassify to 2017, 25%, 50%, 75%?

I would say 50/50. USC just offered both his brothers one of which is 7 years old. He still has a month or so to decide.

I'm sure he wants to, he's visiting half a dozen elite schools and getting formal offers.

Seems more a question of whether he's academically qualified or can get an exemption.

I'd love for him to be in this draft class as Phoenix still sucks and could have their choice of 2 elite homegrown bigs.

Is it true he only shoots 20% from 3?

Just put in his paperwork today to reclassify. This is happening.

Maybe Ainge was on to something trading for another possible lottery pick in this draft....

He's trying to reclassify again and this time it might be real. I read this, which makes no sense to me but what da hey... "It could be that Bagley already knows for sure he'll never qualify for any college and so he's reclassifying for the reason stated: It makes him eligibile for the 2018 NBA Draft, so he doesn't have to waste his time being ineligible for two years (one in high school, one in college) and wait until 2019 before being the #1 overall pick"
