Have you read “The Emperor's New Clothes“ by Hans Christian Andersen?
You should.

We all know, as you said yourself, are annoyed by Luka Dončić fans predicting him a gorgeous career.
Look I don’t believe you watched just 5-6 his full games. As you are from balkan it is impossible. You will not find one man here to believe it. They are just to nice to tell you.
You know some thing about basketball but you are not exactly Pacers GM.
Are people here really predicting that Doncic will have gorgeous career? I don’t think so. The vast majority are saying he’s incredible for his age and that he could have good career, if everything goes well. On the other hand we have some individuals, who’re 100% sure, he would be only average player. Which position is more realistic?
I do.

It's like doubting/criticising Ayton because most American 1st round picks disappoint.
It's not Doncic's fault that no other Euro perimeter prospect was ever close to him. Actually, it IS his fault ... For being so much better than them.
OK, now Doncic is being super overrated with comments like that. No way is he the best perimter prospect Europe ever had. Not even close. He's the best European player ever at age 17, at age 18, and probably also will be at age 19. But those are two completely different things.

Nothing wrong with that prediction, but in that case, it’s nothing wrong if somebody says he won’t.

It is not smart to watch last 5 games of exhausted teenager, after 130 played in less than 18 months and predicting his career, is it?
I don’t believe it but hey...

Nobody from mention players didn’t even play in Euroleague with 18 years, that means they for sure wasn’t great players with 18 years.Nobody won Eurobasket and was selected in first team with 18 years. Porzingis didn’t play in Euroleague and was shooting 30% for 3 and 60% Fts in Sevilla. I would say his 3s was mostly open shots and not of the dribble like Doncic is mostly shooting.
Never said Porzingis played in the Euroleague but that he was a better European prospect than Doncic. The comparison with the mentioned players is because their skill level was very good for Europe but not enough for NBA so if Doncic doesnt make great improvements, and i dont see him doing it, he wont be much better than said players. Everyone assumes that Doncic will have the same improvement trajectory as a raw college athlete but that is certainly not the case. He will improve but his lack of athletic ability, wingspan and elite shooting touch hinders his ceiling to a borderline allstar at best.
so lets hear it, what is his wingspan? (since you seem to know)
It looks shorter than what average players of his height have so id guess its around 6'9''- 6' 10''. Solid but bad in combination with his long legs for a ball handler.

As has already been said here numerous times in these Doncic threads...his wingspan is reported as 6-11.

How is his PIR this year in Euroleague, with his bad combination of his legs and arms length?

this’s becoming very funny.
especially if we know that last years first pick has forgotten how to shoot.

Not to get off track here, but come on guys with the whole PIR thing. It's possibly the dumbest stat in basketball, and one of the dumbest stats in sports in general.

His arms might get longer and legs can shorten as years will pass.

Note that I wrote "prospect", compared to all the other players that either were in the lottery, or at least talked about.
Drazen, and a couple others that played around Drazen's time, weren't even considered real NBA prospects, as only rare NBA personnel even heard of them at the time.

Petrovic at 18 WASNT better then Doncic at 18, Aco Petrovic pointed that out himself among others.
Dragic at 18 wasnt NOWHERE near as good as Doncic, but if youre actually trying to say he is NOW(after 9 seasons in NBA) better then him youre just talking out of your .... cause you have no actual idea how good Doncic can be, you can only speculate.
"Bogdanovic can still become better, but Doncic cant." ???? lol??
the double standards you display are pure BS
We cant compare anyone at 18 to Doncic because they havent really played competitive basketball at 18. And Aco Perovic is a moron so take that as you wish.
Im saying that Doncic doesnt have a huge ceiling and will struggle to reach Dragic's level while Bogdanovic who is and was a better shooter than Doncic might end up being better than Doncic if Doncic doesnt improve and struggles to adapt to the NBA game.

Prospect does not mean NBA draftee. It means any young player with prospective ability. In terms of level of prospective ability, we could discuss for days European perimeter players that had more talent than Doncic.
With Doncic, it's not at all about his talent - it's about how good he actually is, and about how productive he is. But that's not the same thing as talent. He's nowhere remotely near being the top European perimeter talent ever.

No, it does not. Not one of those above guys was anything more than at best OK athletically. Most of them were no better than Doncic as athletes, or actually worse.
It's simply untrue that you have to be very athletic to be a star. Totally untrue.
Doncic is a below average athlete for his position witch is guard/wing. From that list apart from centers and power forwards, who is exactly a below average NBA athlete and is not a once in a generation shooter?

Dragic was a joke in Europe, he was shooting 27% for 3 and 70%Fts in his last season, when he was 22 years old.
Bogdanovic was shooting 20%, when he was 20 years old, 37% 21 year old, 35% 22 years old, 37% 23 and 43% 24 years old. Fts 80%. How you can say that Bogdanovic was better shooter? Doncic has 3 years to get to 35%.

Bogdanovic has elite shooting touch but had sub-optimal mechanics. Doncic has an average touch and sub-optimal mechanics. Yes, this is my subjective opinion. Anyway Bogdanovic is a pretty good shooter now while Doncic is yet to get there if he ever does.
