Everyone cares, unless you are of the naive opinion that everyone knows an equal amount and should have their opinion weighed exactly the same. There's a difference between someone who's throwing darts and someone who's so clueless about darts that they attempt to eat them and then start screaming at people who point out that darts are not food.
This. It’s very handy for weeding out opinions that you don’t respect.

Re: Anthony Edwards
Ok I'm drinking the kool-aid on Edwards now. He's been sensational since the ASB.
In 23 games since ASB he is putting up 23.6 PPG on 0.55 TS%, 5 RPG, 3 APG, 1.6 SPG.
Those numbers are all-star level and it took Wade and Mitchell (as archetype comparisons) being 4 years older before they maintained those numbers for a season. Obviously, Ant hasn't put up these numbers for a season yet but he's got 4 years on the other guys.

Re: Anthony Edwards
I'm still not in. I had no doubt that his physical and athletic profile are top notch and he would be able to get to the basket. Everything else is still a question mark for me. Can he score efficiently or help a team win in a meaningful way?. Jury's out for me. I dont think we will know the answer for years.

Re: Anthony Edwards
As I called him before the draft, he has million buck moves but can't put up the stats.
I think he is having a hot streak, and his overall season shooting stats are still as putrid as his college splits.
At least, his personality turned out to be more interesting than I thought.
Obviously he is quite good as a prospect, but he doesn't measure up to the typical #1 pick.

Re: Anthony Edwards
He's exciting but inconsistent. When you use the #1 pick on a wing player, you expect him to reliably create looks on offense. Anthony doesn't do that (yet). He also doesn't play defense. So basically you have this hyper-athletic kid flying around the court wasting possessions but making lots of highlight plays.
I like his style, and I like his attitude. I also don't give up on rookies till at least their fourth year. Right now he strikes me as a slightly more talented Gerald Green.

Re: Anthony Edwards
I had him ranked #2 on my big board, before the draft.
He surpassed my expectations, and is already more under control than he was supposed to be at this stage in his career.
As a 19 year old, posting 18/4/3 (despite his bad start and bad shooting numbers) bodes extremely well for his future.
Post-ASG (24 games), he's posting 23/5/3, 43/34/78.
I think he eventually will be an All-Star and a top 5 SG in the league.
Minnesota did the right pick, IMHO.

I see more of a JR Smith, which usually gets argued because it's literally impossible for people to ignore incidents with JR Smith like Hennessey, the pipe or his last big screw up on Cleveland but Jr was extremely talented and if given the hreenlight Edwards will continue to get could put up the same numbers. Actually most people knew all along that JR Smith had allstar level talent but was a knucklehead, low IQ type of player. It may take some time for people to realize that with Edwards or perhaps by then he mightve matured a bit to make this sentiment false but for now it's hard for me to see him as more than just a crazy talented player you'd probably never wanna give a major ton of responsibility to. Lucky for them they have KAT already who fills that role.

What off-court "incidents" have you seen from Edwards?

Re: Anthony Edwards
.485 TS% before the all-star break, .546 after.
Offensive rating +9 since the break
Defensive rating -3 since the break
Those aren't Edwards' numbers. Those were the numbers of 19-year old rookie Zach LaVine.
These are Edwards' numbers:
.466 TS% before the all-star break, .550 after
Offensive rating +13 since the break
Defensive rating -3 since the break
I believe rookie Edwards is a step ahead of where rookie LaVine was, but I believe there are a lot of similarities.

Re: Anthony Edwards
Also not a fan of Edwards, and get JR vibes from him.
I just think in the end he ends up topping out as an inefficient player who shoots like he's James Harden but doesn't pass the ball.

I never said I have.
