Hype is building for Vrenz. I dont think late lotto would be out-of-this-world at this point. And I would be too surprised if he went ahead of Giddey, although I disagree with both of these things.

I keep reading these articles about Vrenz and I can only wonder why he isn't a lottery pick. Everyone who watched him is dazzled.

Because he shows flashes of potential when playing, but a) the stats don't back the eye test and b) there are also serious negatives (Is he physically capable of defending in the NBA?).

The Parsons comp is pretty good. I doubt Vrenz ends up as good as a healthy, non clubbing Parsons. But that should be seen as his absolute ideal development scenario IMO.

Parsons was a better athlete and not as good at throwing lobs though. The lobs Vrenz can throw at his height is a pretty unique trait IMO.

If you look at where Vrenz has been working out, his range appears to be early 2nd round. Vrenz workouts:
Milwaukee (31)
New York (32)
OKC (34) (36)
New Orleans (35) (40)
Detroit (37)
Sacramento (39)
San Antonio (41)

Vrenz' agent is George David, who is likely going to be officially hired as Detroit's assistant GM after the draft. So I'd say his floor is #37.

I bet some team snags him a little earlier.

Some of those teams also have 1st round picks but yeah, early 2nd round sounds about right..

Also, he tweeted that he has workouts scheduled with 12 teams but you only listed 7..

Here are some of his other workouts, but they don't reflect a particular draft range ---
Atlanta (20) (48)
Memphis (?) (51)
Charlotte (?) (56)
Dallas (?)
Cleveland (?)
Vrenz also participated in the Utah/Minnesota Combine that 25 teams attended.

I'd like to think Vrenz is in play for the Jazz at #30. He could replace Joe Ingles as a creator on the wing in a year or so.

The fact that we are even considering this guy lasting till the second round shows how deep this draft is.

I think he's a better on-ball initiator than Parsons. I keep seeing a young Andre Kirilenko, at least on offense.

I think several of the Euros are being underrated in mocks this year -- Roko, Vrenz, Petrusev...probably Garuba too.

I get the feeling Detroit plans to consolidate their seconds and make a run at Vrenz. Not sure why, exactly, but he’s certainly intriguing.

I have yet to see any compelling evidence that Cade Cunningham is a better prospect than Vrenz. He is a once-in-a-decade talent, like Zion or Luka or Anthony Davis.

His stats are fairly ass in a weaker league.

23.9 minutes per game, 9.4 points per game, 43.4% from the field, 37.5% on threes, 52.6% from the free throw line, 3.1 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game

This is a 6'10" (208 CM) listed player.

Plus he is turning 21, so he isn't that young. Good prospect, euro stasher or 4 years away from NBA kind of guy.
