What he does on offense doesn't really matter when he can just steamroll his way to the hoop. The skill isn't really there yet imo and he also seems to lack length, footspeed, quickness, agility.. etc. His shot is looking good though

Lebron athletically? What are y’all smoking in here?

As in.. He's a LeBron level athlete vs other Highschoolers.. Not overall. He obviously isnt close to that type of athlete

I don’t see that either. Dude looks slow

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Flagg Lowkey reminds me of high school MPJ.

Flagg is an entirely different universe as a defensive prospect. His activity on that end for his age is just ridiculous. He's also a better ballhandler and playmaker. For a while his defense was far ahead of his offense, but his offensive game is starting to blossom lately and there's still much more room for him to get even better there. Not to mention he can still get even bigger and more athletic given he's still 16 for another half-year.

I actually think Flagg is one of the best prospects of this side of the millennium. I'm surprised people around here aren't more excited about him.

Ya, I see little similarities w/ MPJ outside maybe frame?

Flagg is going to be a stat stuffer who contributes all over the place when not scoring - MPJ is the exact opposite.

38 points
16 rebounds
11 blocks (including blocking the game tying attempt at the end of the game)
6 assists

I mean this is reaching just flat out freakish territories now.

I want to get hyped but the fact that someone can put up that kind of statistical performance and still need to block a game tying attempt to secure a win is a red flag. Not necessarily to him personally just...I dunno. Matches up too well with my preconceived notions of how the game is played in this AAU/camp circuit.

Lol, you know Flagg’s teammates were just a bunch of his buddies from Maine, most of whom won’t sniff professional basketball? He ended up dragging them to the Peach Jam final, where they lost narrowly to the Boozer twins’ team. The fact that a team of high school kids from Maine got anywhere near this tournament was solely thanks to Flagg.

He needs to reclassify and start playing with better competition
He has the chance to go 2 overall behind Airious Bailey in the 2025 draft

He already plays for probably the best high school program in the country against all the other top teams. And unless Bailey absolutely blows up in college, Flagg will be drafted ahead of him.

Both of them are born in 2006 and have the same height, I think they are pretty equal athletes- maybe Bailey is a bit better
Both are still facing only high school competition
In 2 years a lot can change and everything will depend on their improvement/development and how they fare against college guys
I just like Bailey's potential, shooting and shot creation better right now, reminds me of a young tmac

Sure, but right now Flagg is a lot better at basketball, which is kind of important. If Bailey can bridge that massive gap over the next 2 years, then good luck to him.

He's the guy i've been thinking. Bobby Jones with a 3 pt shot.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

What does a good NBA prospect look like when playing against teenagers his own age? He flat dominates, no competition. That’s what all these videos of Flagg show. A man amongst boys. He is perfectly on track, the skills, the size, etc. What’s not to like here?

yea I don't understand it

it's still early obviously but he's absolutely filthy in every way, if I am a GM of a crappy team I am already thinking about aligning my tank with his year.

I wont lie, when I first watched Flagg I wasnt blown away. I even came on here saying I would probably be a vocal naysayer of his. July of last year I wasnt too impressed at all with anything on the offensive end and I wont lie, I saw a skinny white guy and didnt see explosive dunks and didnt think he was all that good of an athlete.

But having watched more of him, seeing his big time growth on offense, and what to me seems like growing into his body and being more coordinated and more athletic. Ya he isnt like a LeBron or Thompson twin level athlete. But for being 6'8-6'9, the dude moves pretty damn well already. He is definitely a plus athlete. And his offensive skill set is growing rapidly. He is showing legit point forward skills, is a mid to high 80s% FT shooter already.

Jones was a +/- darling who really could do anything on the court and was extremely unselfish. Extremely portable player, especially for his era.

I see Tom Gugliotta in Cooper Flagg--supersized Wing who can play point-forward but Flagg is a better shooter, not an A+ tier athlete but damn good for his size.

It is always fun with these comparisons between all these players who played prior to 2015 as they couldn't shoot and that is essentially a requirement in today's game [whether you are a star, 2nd/3rd option, or role player] you must shoot or be able to pass and defend at an extremely high level in order to play.

apparently he is indeed a big time trash talker, but yeah, this from Brian Scalabrine

“I heard a rumor that my boy Cooper Flagg was at Jayson Tatum’s camp and he was busting Brad Beal 1-on-1, and Brad Beal got mad at him. Started cussing him out,” Scalabrine said. “This dude is a major trash-talker. … So I guess the rumor is that Brad Beal and him were squaring off 1-on-1 and Brad Beal was taking it lightly. It’s a high school kid. Then Cooper started giving it to him. And I guess the rumor is, Cooper started talking trash and Bradley Beal got mad. Really mad.”

Imagine have the cash of Beal, and letting a 16 year old get under your skin. Flagg must have been straight up embarrassing him 1 on 1.

Yeah, the next two years are going to be irritating.
