Calderon in his prime was a point guard every team needed.

Calderon was more of an assist hunter than a great passer and playmaker. He never averaged 9 assists per game. He was more like Ben Simmons than he was like Rondo or Magic. Assist hunting is a mentality. Teams generally don't want those kinds of guys these days, definitely not the smallish guard kind. People seem like they are willing to welcome Stephon Castle into the NBA as the next assist hunting PG giving you somewhere between 7 and 9 assists per game and under 18 ppg.

How about Jeff Hornacek on offense, with Caruso's off-ball defense, all packed in a Monta Ellis' body type?

he doesn't have horny's scoring chops. he's more like a steve kerr, craig hodges or john paxson on offense and defense(better off ball defense) and body type.

iow, as long as somebody creates an open look for him, he can hit it - just as those dudes did. he's also too small to switch and defend anybody but the opposition's smallest guy.

if nba teams feel good about drafting john paxson in the top 5, by all means. push somebody else down to the jazz at 10.

Mike James and Jeremy Lin are two additional PGs that stylistically display what success could look like in the NBA for IRS from the perimeter and attacking the basketball.

Read on Twitter

The ‘NBA dad’ thing has been discussed in online draft circles for a while, but it’s interesting seeing it laid out like this.

In this class outside of Bronny, it’s Reed and Devin Carter.

And Reed actually fits the top 2

Yes, because it hasn’t mattered all that much how good the father was in the NBA. Mychal Thompson, Jaren Jackson, Melvin Booker, Rick Brunson, Tito Horford, Dale Davis, Dell Curry for some examples, were not exactly stars

Didn't know that one. At this point his father was a better NBA player considering the requirements of the era.

Dell Curry won 6th man of the year and scored over 12k points, probably a bit higher level than those guys

Count me in the Sheppard's hypetrain!
After seeing a lot of footage, I think he is the real deal, and I would not even be surprised if he was drafted by the Wizards at #2.

This is such a strange, no, almost bizarre statement.

I think the Hornets should trade up for Reed, but my fellow Hornets fans would revolt. His floor to me is a better defending JJ Redick, but I think he has a chance to be a 24ppg scorer in his prime. There's just so much value in a player that can effortlessly hit 30 footers, not just catch and shoot but with the ball in his hands as well. On top of the BBIQ and defense. His wingspan/being an inch shorter is the only reason he's not going #2 or #1. It just feels like the classic "Washington passes on all-star lead ball-handler/scorer for a bust" is going to happen again, Washington absolutely needs to take this guy

Yeah I’m a big Reed fan. Super high floor, super high ceiling and will probably fit on a lot of rosters even if he only hits his floor.

Nate Duncan has him #1, followed by Sarr and Holland, which I weigh more heavily than most if not all of these mock sites.

Good to hear that, I also have him #1 (followed by Sarr & Risacherr). I believe that Reed and Jalen Johnson could form a unique pick and roll duo, and provide the Hawks with a solid foundation for their retooling efforts.
