Thomas Robinson:comparisons,potential?

Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on T-Rob.

Who's he compare too in the league best?

Possible all star? Franchise big? Bust? Role player?

He seems to have nice form on his jumper, so he could develop a pretty consistent mid range game.
Also a terrific athlete and high motor. Seems like he could be a 9-10 rebound PF with potential to be a nightmare mismatch.

I'm not sold on him offensively because his touch just seems weak + older age

Basically it's all about the rebounding, probable defensive potential, maybe outside shot

I was reading David Aldridge's roundup of quotes and one of them said a Charles Oakley type. That might be my favorite comparison I've heard for Robinson.

Really? Jefferson is an extremely skilled post player.

Robinson really doesn't have a polished post game. He's mainly athletic as hell

Good enough but not good enough to be an all-star...he has the borderline all star potential. I see a Milsap comparison, someone who plays hard and aggressive and scores lots of points and rebound at a good rate. He plays a hard-nose game and plays rough too, along with skillset so that's a good sign that I can see him pan out in the NBA alot easier than someone like a PJ3 or Drummond. I see a good 2nd option on offense if he pans out.

i dont see too many similarities b/t them outside of height. t-rob is a very good athlete and is a high energy, effort player. he also isnt that skilled.
boozer is skilled but is a poor athlete by NBA PF standards which impacts so many facets of his game. he's also a low energy, low effort player who cant impose his will on the defense like players who play harder and are more athletically gifted.

Not to make this about Boozer but how many 270 lb players are better athletes than Booz? At least in his Utah days... Not many.

a few.
boozer's always been heavy footed which is why he's always been awful defensively and has never been anything special in the post. if a player doesnt have the length or vertical-ity to finish over shot contests in the post, they better have nimble feet (like z-bo or scola for example). boozer never had that.
t-rob is twice the athlete that boozer ever was.

IMO, Thomas Robinson plays a lot like David West in his prime, though he's got to refine his post game some more. But the mid range game and the physicality is already there.

Is his mid range game as money as wests?
I know he has form and can hit it, but thought critics were still questioning the consistency of his shot.

That being said, size form etc... I can kinda see the similarities. I'd say west was a better shooter, trob a better finisher around

I hate making a combination of this many players to make a comparison scenario, but to me Thomas Robinson has heavy shades of 4 different players to his game stylistically:

David West
Kris Humphries
Nene
Paul Millsap
