who said he's a 24+ ppg scorer?

he can score 15-16 points a game just on activity, transition play and making himself available. as long as his jumpshot doesnt completely desert him, he'll be able to score 20 a game in his prime.

I think he can get 20+ ppg

Guy has great skills for his size. Who was the last big man that has this kind of ball handling ability?

I dont think most are expecting him to b e a 20+ scorer. He likely is a 16-19 ppg guy.

Aside from the "Huh?" question of this thread, why does Davis have to average that many points to be a superstar?

I think he can eventually be a 20ppg guy, but rookie year depending on where he winds up he's 12 to 15ppg.

KG numbers in his prime minus the assists.

He doesn't need to be a great scorer. If he ever gets to 20 points per game he will be in the conversation for the NBAs best player because hes probably going to be the best defensive player in the league after a few seasons.

there's only been 68 players in NBA history that have been able to average 24+ ppg for two or more seasons. KG and Duncan have only hit the mark once.

I was skeptical about Davis' offensive potential after the first few times I watched him. But over the course of the year he looked a lot less awkward while driving.

Unless I'm mistaken, he was offered a scholarship by a pretty good Cleveland State team when he was a 6"1 junior. So, he must have had pretty good ballhandling and shooting skills. He hit an impressive 71 percent of his free throws as a college freshman. I think he'll be a 22-24 point a game guy after 2-3 seasons, if he has a decent PG to run the pick and roll with him. I think he'll be like a more agile Kenneth Faried on offense. Faried put up 16.7 points per 36 minutes a rookie. Davis will actually be playing 36 minutes a game. I think he can best Faried by a couple of points as a freshman, and pick up another 4-5 points as he develops a 15-18 footer, like KG or Bosh did, in his 2nd or 3rd season.

One thing that surprised me is that his post game base looked pretty solid to me. Not a lost cause. He had some spins and decent fluidity. He just didn't finish the shots but knowing his touch/work ethic and the probability he's adding weight, that could be correctable. Honestly if he had 4 years in college like Duncan I wouldn't be crazily shocked by a similar progression by his senior year. Not that he's a lock in the post but I would include it into "feasible upside". I also think he has large potential as a face the basket attack the rim guy/step back and hit the jumpshot if defenders play off him skillset. In the video I went as far to say I would take him top 5 if he was an offense only prospect.

Who's overrating his offensive ability? Most people on this site aren't impressed with his offensive ability, to the point where I think they're underrating it. I think he'll become a good shooter that can be effective on the pick-&-pop because he already has a good stroke and his mechanics are fundamentally sound. And he has flashed a nice soft hook w/ either hand.

I think he'll be at least and 18+ per game scorer if he adds a little weight.

If he averages 15 while becoming a poor man's Bill Russell defensively, I'd take it.

Davis's ceiling is 18/13/3.5. No one's talking more than 20ppg.

My gut feeling is that he'll never be good enough to get more than 30 rebounds a game.

A Davis is not Dirk, not Bird,not even close. He's a shotblocking D guy who can rebound and probably at his peak gets 15-16 ppg. davis isn't Karl Malone, Karl was 40 lb bigger and a monster in the paint. Bird and Dirk could pop 20 footers all day any day. Davis can't. He's #1 because he's a safe bet to be a plus on D and the boards and "pretty good" overall on offense. i doubt he scores 24 once a month.

Whoever thinks he can become a 24 ppg scorer is crazy.

I wouldn't expect more than 14-15ppg from him, and that's after a couple of years when he matures
