Shane Larkin

Blew away the combine and I really like him as a prospect. Strikes me as a Jameer Nelson kinda prospect who would be great in a wide open, floor spacing, and free flowing system.

Thoughts?

Shane is really growing on me lately. He's one of my targets at 15 for the Bucks. Surround this guy with shooters and he could be a serious threat. He has great vision off the pick and roll and like you said his athletic numbers at the combine were pretty insane. He also comes across as a level headed, mature guy. A lot to like about him.

Digging into the numbers for our annual stat articles. Shane Larkin led the NCAA in creating offense on the pick and roll, impressive.

Pretty cool.

This kid can do it all can pass it and shoot it he's a little smaller but he's just a super athlete I really can see him creeping into the top 10

I like Larkin for Milwaukee too, #15 just seems a tad high to me. Would love to see Hammond grab the best available SG/SF at #15 and take advantage of teams looking to trade out of their picks by purchasing another 1st rounder to take Larkin.

Doesn't Milwaukee have enough undersized athletic guards?

I'd like to think none of them will be back next year

Fortunately Larkin isn't a headcase and seems to come from a successful environment.

I'm a Bucks fan, but I don't really like Larkin at all. If he had returned to school, I think he'd be one of those guys that people realize isn't really a good NBA prospect with another season of analyzing him. At 15, the only PG I want is Schroder (assuming MCW is gone by then, who I'd definitely prefer). Otherwise, I'd rather take a home run swing on a guy like Adetokunbo than someone like Larkin that I think best case scenario is a guard off the bench.

He's going to be a very high priority pick for a lot of teams -- possibly another Nate Robinson or even a Ty Lawson type of player.

I imagine teams thinking he'll terrorize other teams reserve players.

I think he can be similar to Conley, I hope Utah grabs him at 21, it's the best team for him.

Haha, no I get where you're coming from and I like the kid but I'm passing judgment on him till I see what he does in the NBA. I wouldn't fault anyone for betting on him, he has a ton of positives, but there is that possible low-upside.

Just couldn't resist the dig. :D

Miami was, IMO, the best team in the nation this year, not to mention an easy team to root for: lots of quality guys, including a strong upperclass, and they played great basketball. Too bad they couldn't bring home a title. You also have to wonder if part of Larkin's success was due to the fact that the entire team was so mature and executed well, although he was the motor and really took control.

He's an inch shorter than Mills and his wingspan is 4" shorter.

Wolters is better, but I wouldn't mind getting Larkin either.

I can't see Larkin ever being more than a Jose Juan Barea type role player

Makes sense, although his athleticism gives him a little higher ceiling.

He can jump but I don't think that's going to really help him much in the NBA, TJ Ford had a 40 inch vert too. He's just too small to ever play above the rim or even consistently finish inside. Brandon Jennings who dwarfs Larkin gets murdered whenever he goes into the paint. He might be better than Barea, I just don't think he could ever be a starter in the NBA being so small.

He looks a lot like DJ Augustin to me. DJ's combine looked pretty good to if I'm remembering right.
