He's a freak athlete, but he can't shoot well enough to play the 3, and he isn't strong enough to defend the 4, and there are questions about his BBIQ and work ethic.

He might be a good role-player eventually, but he's a project with limited upside, so teams are going to ask themselves: "is it worth it"?

I wouldnt say he has limited upside at all. Anybody with his athleticism and length has a pretty good amount of upside. His potential has been his biggest attribute actually . Also can handle the ball, block some shots, defend, post up (although relies on his athleticism too much), and so on. Problem is he just turned 22 and really hasnt gotten any better. Still the upside is there.

If he develops a half decent jumper he can be a pretty good SF though. The form on his J seems solid enough to work with and the Knicks have a great shooting coach in Dave Hopla. If he bulks up a little he could also be a nice stretch 4. The versatility is there so you hope he develops into a hybrid/combo forward instead of the tweener he is now.

Thing with CJ has obviously been his work ethic, but if being undrafted doesnt light a fire under him then nothing will. He has the talent to be an NBA player and more. Its up to him really.

Extremely athletic, possibly best athlete in this draft. Handles the ball well for his size, can pull down a tough rebound and start the break with ease. Good finisher around the rim, either with dunks with power or athletic scoops and lay ins. He has a very underrated post up game which does rely heavily on athleticism BUT he uses it very intelligently and has some go-to moves at his disposal. If he could bulk up to 235-240 he'd be one of the best PFs in this draft honestly.

Now the bad part. When motivated, CJ is a beast that outshines everyone on the court. But you constantly have to kick him in the pants to stay motivated. Despite his athleticism, he loves to settle for step back jumpers and freezing defenders with 'tween the legs dribbles for a jumper. In short, he loves his jumper way too much. He's not a bad jump shooter and consistently makes them when open but he takes a lot of "no, no, no, Yes!" shots. He has range out to the college three but he shoots more of a set shot from out there. His form needs work if he is to play the 3 in the NBA full time.

As a Wolfpack fan, I kept waiting for CJ to get it. He never really quite did, although I'm not entirely sure it was his fault entirely b/c Sidney Low and Gottfried don't strike me as particular good teachers or developers. He showed some steady improvement but never enough for me. I thought he would go late 1st or 2nd round for sure, really surprised he went undrafted. Hopefully an NBA coaching staff can get him to figure it out, his game is probably more suited for the NBA than college.

he has nba athleticism and length, but has no nba skill. can't shoot and has no post moves too skinny to bang with PFs. low BBIQ. he dissappears in games. not a fan, at best he's evans (from utah).
