Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
It has to be Boston College's Olivier Hanlan, right? Does anybody else know anything more about this guy? I've been trying to look for threads on him, but have been unsuccessful, so in my mind, I'm thinking this guy has to be at the top of list for biggest sleeper in the 2014 Draft. I mean, even as a older freshman PG (he'll turn 21 in February), check out his numbers:
15.5 PPG, 45.9% FGs, 39.4% 3pt FGs on 3.8 FGAs, 5.1 FTAs, 4.2 RPG, 2.3 APG
Including a red hot ACC Tournament run last year, where he averaged 27.5 PPG on 68% shooting, and this 41 pt performance:

Seems to have some serious skill, good shiftiness in the open court, and defensive awareness on top of that. So, is it the age and/or lack of playmaking as a PG?

Its Wayne Selden. Dude is arguably the most athletic in this class and he can shoot.

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
it's mostly the lack of hype (was not highly touted out of prep school) and his current school. BC is not a good team. players who are not as highly touted have to prove themselves over and over and far exceed expectations before people start to take note.
he'll get some buzz this yr. he's got great size, can play to contact, shoots it well and has a high iq. he's not a great athlete, but his size makes up for that. he's not a great playmaker but he obviously knows what to do with the ball. as a pg he's more of distributor than a playmaker, but because of his role on his team he's asked to look to score more since he's the primary perimeter threat. didnt pay too much attention to his defense so im unsure how he handles himself on that end.
i'd consider him a heady combo.
i think he has 3rd guard potential

I think he could be more than a 3rd guard, but I guess we'll see how he performs this season. He's got some moves in his repertoire.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
Since I really don't consider Embiid a sleeper anymore, I would go with Semaj Christon of Xavier or Isaiah Austin of Baylor. If Christon played in the SEC or Big Ten, he would be a consensus top 10 pick. John Wall type guard. As for Austin: Big men take time to develop. It might be a blessing in disguise for the 7'1 Austin, that he got injured and had to come back. I could see him playing himself into the top 8.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Easily Selden...he deserves at least as much attention as players as Smart, Exum and Harrison but for some reason flies under the radar. I think he has the potential to be as good, if not better than any of them.
If people think he doesn't qualify as a sleeper because he still should be top 10, then I think Aaron Harrison or James Young. Maybe someone knows better than I do but I really don't understand why Aaron. I think could make the transition to PG in the NBA as well. As for Young, it just plays right into Harrison. These guys are battling for minutes and as a result neither may get the chance to shine but some team may be able to capitalize on it should they declare.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
I like the Semaj Christon mention. He seems to have some upside to him.
Rodney Hood, who transferred to Duke, is a guy worth keeping an eye on as well. He seems to be a cerebral player with good athleticism as a SF.
Winston Shepard, likewise, is another prospect. Coming off a mediocre freshman year, it'll be interesting to see how he responds, especially with Jamaal Franklin no longer there at San Diego St. He might be a 3 or 4 yr guy ultimately though.
I'm sure there's more guys out there like that as well.

He transferred to Duke so he is now all of a sudden cerebral?
No one really know how good Hood is going to be., but last year, he was described as Duke's best player in practice.

lol no it's just not 'cause he transferred to Duke. Just from listening to some of his interviews, he seems to be a smart guy.

Chris Walker for one.
Obviously has been highly touted but has been overshadowed by the hype of the top prospects, needs to bulk up though.
Andrew Harrison also, he's got a lot of talent but has been overshadowed also.
As a UNC fan I also have to mention Joel James if he declares.

I know he's getting attention, but Exum needs to be looked at hard at #2. The guy can flat out ball. Much, much better than Marcus Smart or Semaj Christon. If he works on that jump shot, he has Harden potential.
investigate Adam Silver

not crazy about chris walker. he's a much better athlete than he is a basketball player. he's got a really low iq and bad tendencies. i dont think he has what it takes in b/t the ears.

exum will benefit a lot by finishing his summer on a high note. there will be less opportunities for scouts to poke holes in his game. im guessing if he does declare, his agent will limit his workouts as well.

Exum is a player. I think teams will try to see if he can play PG, or will convert him to PG, because he'll be an absolute monster of a PG to matchup against. That guy will help turn a franchise around imo.
The Andrew Luck of NBA draft prospect, in my opinion.

I want him next to Kemba if he gets a more steady jumper. Those two=

I like Austin's teammate, Cory Jefferson, as a late bloomer who's going to fit in real well in the NBA.
