Dario Saric

I like his decision making skills and he seems a pretty intelligent passer. I just can't get over his terrible defense and defensive potential which doesn't look very good. I think that in some ways, that limits him to an off the bench offensive specialist in the role of a quirky point forward. I had been projecting him as late lottery, but I think I'm downgrading him a bit towards higher teens, potentially early twenties. What are your thoughts on this guy?

uh, his skill level for his age is not in question. he is very skilled. it's his physical tools that are. he's like the complete opposite of jan vesely.

Unique combinations of strengths and weaknesses seemingly. A+ feel for the game and some post and passing skills. But poor athlete and shooting. I wouldn't take him lotto right now.

Will be a stud and a draft steal. I'm sold on him. Won't be a lottery pick, but should be.

Anyone got any insight on his defense? I watched all of Crotia's game in Eurobasket, and Saric's defense seemed alright to me. Looked like an intelligent defender who knew his positioning and when to help, but in the NBA I don't know if the can handle the quickness of most 3s or size/strength of most 4s.

I get to watch him on Adriatic League games sometimes. He has tremendous defensive awareness, basically understanding what the opposing team tries to do and disrupting it. Very quick feet which makes him a great helper. He is a very good rebounder as well. He is getting stops for his team at the level he is playing, but the main issue is that he doesn't have good size for an NBA PF (just 6'9'' with a 6'10'' wingspan).

Overall, he strangely reminds me of Rubio in the regard that he has some attributes that are absolutely elite and some that are well below NBA level. His overall awareness of the game, offense and defense, is terrific. He plays the right way and tries to do all the little things to win. He is fast, hyper energetic and a good ballhandler. It looks like he's cutting down on the turnovers. While he is generally an efficient scorer, he is not a good shooter and that pretty much limits him to PF, where he is rather undersized for the NBA. I have changed my mind on him as an NBA project a few times, i really don't know at what range he should be drafted. I personally believe that the best course of action would be to stash him 2-3 years in Europe and then bring him over, but i don't think he wants that.

any possibility he can play the NBA 3? how would you compare his foot speed to that of say, prime turkoglu or gallinari?

Slim, he is a sub par shooter. This is what hurts his stock right now, if he could shoot he would be an easy lottery pick.

shooting can be improved and his form is not bad at all. i was more so asking if he can defend nba sfs, at least better than he can defend nba pfs. i look at his frame and length and figure that he'd be better off trying to defend 3's. if he can at least move like prime hedo then he can play the 3.

He doesn't appear to be strong enough to hold his ground in the post with some of the stronger SFs, let alone a PF, which is actually what his position projects to be.

His wingspan is only 6'10 which is also his height. He would need to bulk up and add a ton of strength just to become a sub-par defender.

Watch some footage of him trying to defend anyone trying to back him down.

did he run a marathon before the game or something? he looks so tired and sweaty right from the start. looks like he has a nice feel for the game and good offensive awareness. i still think he'll be a major liability on defense whether he's playing PF or SF.

he has great work ethic.. last days coach says to much work.. sometimes after away match come in home and go with personal trainer work shooting training.. It is already half a year work, and results to see in match.. for defense he play good..a lot of the musculo progressed.. he play good defense in paint and also can switch to pick guard because it is quick for PF.. I do not know how to explain how meaning for team.. now it is best players..without him the 40% weaker..when some players were fired (janning, strewberry) all were expecting a big drop for club.. but club cibona play better with key rule dario saric.. i hope they come video againts buducnost and cedevita ( teams they fight for final four) both won cibona.. there is one big interview last week.. and says dont hurry in nba.. chances are good that he went to the draft (90%).. but thinking to stay 2-3 years in europe and come in nba(when they be ready).. for me this is good thinking.. it is better for european young players to get experince in europe.. players like gasol, ginobili, parker he get experince in europe.. for 18-19 years it is difficult come in nba.. dirk nowitzki have luckly they coach don nelson love him and trust him.. also now have a good rating european players mirotic(real madrid) and bogdanovic(fenerbache) from nba scout.. i see dario be pick in lottery 7- 15..i thing it is better stay in europe 2 sezone(go to better club, clubs that play euroleague) dont forget in 2011 in wc U19 they play match againts USA(lamb, hardway junior, leonard meyers, kendall marshall, mcdermott) they won croatia, saric has 2 years younger (17 pts)
