Christian Wood

With the draft coming up in the not so distant future, I've started to pay attention to players that I've never heard of before that are in the Raptors range, and the one guy that stood out to me was Christian Wood. This kid looks like he has talent to be a lottery pick, just from all the videos I've watched of him, though suffers from a lack of polish, consistency, and experience.

Just wondering what are people's thoughts of him? His potential, attitude, work ethic, etc.

Boom or Bust imo.

I think he has low bust potential, but a very high ceiling. Realistically, his ceiling is probably a solid starter, but if he really puts the work in, he can all-star calibre.

Dumb, soft and skinny. Not interested in him at all, we've seen plenty of these types.

He's skinny and fat.

I think he can find a place in the league as a bench spark / energy guy. He could come in and play some D, run the break, throw down some alleys. Kinda like what Jeremy Evans does. You would never trust him as an offensive contributor though, just doesn't have "it". He'd make the coach pull his hair out.

I worry more about whats between his ears than his body.

Does he actually want to put in the hard yards, his low BBIQ issues...

Projected as a late first rounder / early second rounder. Probably about right from a risk standpoint. Kinda reminds me of camby with his wire frame and very quick finishes at the rim all in 1 motion. Can actually put it on the floor and create or himself a little, too. Defensive potential, but clearly isn't there yet and will need to at least bulk up some. I like him as a prospect, though.

Bust. Same coach as Anthony Bennett. Didn't really dominate in a weak Mountain West (last year anyway). Not in the best shape. Needs to be the right situation for him not to bust, but I don't see it.

This is the thing I'm most worried about. I can understand having an underwhelming year in college, not being developed as far as his skills and body goes, but work ethic is always the biggest concern. In the short time I've found out about Wood, I haven't read anything saying he has a poor work ethic, but neither have I seen anything saying he has a good one either.

Huge boom or bust prospect. How he plays reminds me too much of Andray Blatche, both in skillset and mentally. He will definitely have to make an adjustment if he wants to succeed at the NBA level, and physically he's got to get stronger as well.

serviceable or super bust prospect.

can't see how he supposed to become huge boom. Andray is a much much much much better scorer than Wood.

Yeah, **** that lol.

I guess with the right coach that can reign him in he'd excel, but under Dwane Casey he'd just settle for mid rangers all day and get rewarded for it.

I like him because he rebounds. No post game, though.

Hint to future defenders, he'll be driving right, and will not be giving up the rock unless you are prying it from his cold, dead hands.

Just came across him. 6'11 with a 7'3 wingspan. Averaged almost 3 blocks a game. Looks to have the lateral quickness to be effective on guards. Has a decent 3 point shoot that will improve at the nba if he puts in the time. Didn't watch any UNLV so maybe someone who did can tell me I am crazy with this comparison.

WCS lite on defense with better offense.

Seems to me if he has the work ethic he could be a valuable stretch 4.
