There's nothing he can do for 4 years, Wolves hands aren't tied. They can take Dunn and see if he's any good for a year or two, and then make a decision about him vs Rubio.

Martin was super quick, which made him excellent at getting to the line at his peak.

Jamal Murray is going to struggle in the league. And it's a shame because he seems like a good kid. I hope his shooting ability off screens helps him get a long career as a bench shooter that can put it on the floor a little.

I think every player not named Ingram or Simmons is hated on because most people don't feel comfortable saying someone else is better because the media or scouts or whoever says that person is a second tier player and they just automatically agree sans looking like they do not know anything (even though they like that player), but year after year after year after year the NBA and media gets it wrong. The NBA lotto is such a crap-shoot, I'd trust my being wrong over someone else's.

Thus I think Murray will be a stud and I hope we draft him number 4. I saw the guy play and begin this thread for this reason, "Am I tripping or is this 19 year old lights out?" He is lights out.


He is quick, nice handles and hops, can attack, shoot off screens and off the dribble, pull up and has confidence in his game....

Talent evaluation is the hardest thing in sports. Murray dejounte, chriss, bender, buddy, jaylen brown, luwawu, ellenson- this is a toufh 3-10 to deal with.

and Dunn. If he improves his shooting Don't think he will that much, but you never know.

Would love for the C's to trade down a spot or two and take this kid. Everyone assumes you can teach/improve shooting, but it never seems to happen. Even if you can, when you start at the level of shooter Murray is at, the ceiling is outrageous. I also feel what he lacks in athleticism/burst, he seems to make up for in speed and direction change.

His lack of a first step/inability to turn the corner makes him settled for contested low percentage pullups and doesn't have the handle to create seperation isolating, can't break his man off the dribble but he is deceptively shifty

I surely do hope the Suns & Pelicans agree with the above two posts. Jamal Murray is not my first pick of those I think might be available at #7, but he is my second pick. I'd love to seem him fall that far.

On Wednesday, he spent the morning working out for the Celtics, proving that and setting a record of sorts.

The guard made 79 of 100 shots from 3-point range in a drill around the arc. The previous mark was 77 this spring. The drill involved taking 10 shots from beyond the arc at five spots on the court and going twice around.

He has done this (broke shooting records) during a few workouts now.

"He can stretch the defense, play off the ball and the NBA is going position less,'' Calipari said on the podcast. "He can flat-out shoot the ball and is physically ready.''

When asked why the Sixers should take Murray over Simmons or Ingram, Calipari said, "What does Philadelphia need more than anything else? Someone to make shots and guard play. I am biased. I want my guy. But he can play multiple positions, he can physically step in and play right away. He can play the point. He can score in bunches. You watch Golden State. Who really is their point guard? Whoever has it.''

Calipari continued to say that Murray is "the safest pick. Simmons is really a talent. He's big. He has size, speed and basketball ability and there is LeBronish in him. Brandon is long and can score the ball. He's a very good player. But it should be Jamal or one of those two guys.''

I think he should go ahead of Dunn and Hield... But #3 depends on Bender's appeal to Boston after workouts.

I don't see him getting past #6. Now Marquese Chriss is super overrated, there's no way he's the 3rd best prospect.

I don't mean to discredit Murray or anything, but Calipari always hypes the ish out of his UK guys. Praises them like a mom drunk on wine coolers at her son's graduation barbecue. Doesn't help us evaluate Murray at all.

I like Murray but the record he beat was 77 set by Kyle Wiltjer so....yeah

Good news for Canada basketball though!

I really like Murray and think he'll end up playing the point. It made sense that he didn't at UK, but I think that will be his long term position.

I think the biggest issue with prospect evaluation is that in the NBA it's so much about projection. You genuinely can't know for sure how an 18-20 year old is going to develop, which is why so many kids are drafted high based on strictly physical attributes and potential. Also from a fan perspective there is so much we can't evaluate on the mental side of things. How can we know what type of drive these kids have, how deep their love and desire for the game are or even how well they pick up and assimilate what their coaches teach them?

I don't necessarily favor an age restriction, but I would LOVE a D-league where players can really develop then join their team when they're ready. If each team had a D-league affiliate where schemes match their NBA team and players made enough money to make it worthwhile etc I think we would see far greater player development and less kids in the NBA with no high level skill or awareness.
