Off what? His #10 ranking in 247sports 2016 class, regarded as one of the best classes in the last decade? Go ahead and look up 2014s top 15 prospects, more than half are legit NBA starters. Many lotto picks.

You're crazy if you think he's going to be scooped up in the 1st round.

Teams (like boston) with multiple picks should draft him

Am I the only one who isn't convinced the answers are all written by him?

I still think some team will almost certainly scoop him up in the first round... totally different players but with the recent hype of Giannis and Kristaps, some GM will think they are onto the next big thing

From what I've seen, he does seem like a mature/well spoken guy for his age, but yeah, he must've answered that via email or something. Some of the longer answers and in particular the answer to the shooting question seemed to well thought out to have been on the spot responses.

If he wrote those answers he should quit basketball immediately and put all his time and energy into journalism :o

Do people actually believe he is coming out now to be a 2nd round pick?

I don't know what everyone is talking about. These answers look like written answers from a kid who just graduated from high school. There's no way he answered these aloud though -- they were written and thought out. It frustrates me that you belittle him in that way when you don't even know him.

my favorite is the kevin durant comparison. like kd has an elite handle and is one of the best shot creators ever. ive never even seen maker pull an in n out with his off hand. ive also never seen this kid pull up for three of the dribble. youtube is making people crazy, or people are just stupid. i think both are true

I read somewhere that he might have issues with eligibility and stuff like that if he goes the college route and that might be why hes trying to get drafted this soon.

its interesting, this kid is getting a tone of attention. its actually looking like a really smart move. I think he goes top 20 now on hype alone...

Does anyone remember Jonathan Bender?

You don't think 31% is good for a big man?

This guy is gonna be a first-round pick. I would be happy if the Suns select him with the Cavs pick (#28).

An athletic 7 footer with range and shot blocking ability? He's going first round.

He isn't a wing player, he isn't the next Durant. BUT - if he has the brains to focus on what his actual strengths are, he's perfect for the modern game. He can run in transition, rebounds hard, he has the makings of stretching the floor all the way to 3 (obviously needs work) and he has shot blocking instincts - whilst his ball handling isn't NBA SF level, it's very good for an NBA big and should allow him to attack closeouts.

Obviously he is raw and seems a little too focussed on perimeter play but if he accepts his role he is a very, very good prospect. He will go 10 - 20, easily.

The kid is way more talented than skilled but the position question as well as the feel for the game questions are legit for Thon. I keep hearing Boston and Atlanta and they couldn't be more wrong.

Best case for Thon is Toronto, Dallas or Miami.

Like Maker, talented as Ish, but unskilled as any prospect to come into the NBA

I never realized how small his hands are -- probably why he's a capable shooter. A lot of the issues that he has can be taught over time. Most of the issues he has are issues his coaches should have been teaching him (concern I've had for a while is that he has had terrible coaching). If he works hard and takes everything in consideration, he's going to be a good NBA player. If not, he won't be. He's probably two years away from being a contributor on an NBA team, but now that I realize how small his hands are he's reminding me of Kwame Brown.

yeah, his skill/talent level is a bit overhyped, but he does have potential to be a 15 and 8 guy - which is really good. I think my favorite part of his game is the motor. He seems like a dude who will give his all and play active the entire time he's on the floor. Those guys seem more likely to reach their potential by default. I wouldn't cry if my team took him after the lottery in this year's draft. I'd rather have him than say Henry Ellison or someone like that.

What does a guy drafted 17 years ago have to do with Maker?
