Re: IU Hoosier: OG
First time getting a close look at OG (I've watched other IU games, but this is the first one which I've focused all my attention on him).
Positives:
- Good Length and strength (no way the supposed 7' 6" wingspan is true but its probably 7' - 7' 2")
- Shows potential as a straight-line driver. Good burst going both left and right.
- Shows positional versatility on D (question his ability to guard quick pg's though)
- Active hands on defense. Gambled a lot for steals in this game w/ mixed results.
- Decision making on offense looked solid. Knows who he is for the most part and stays in his lane. Made a nice pass to a weakside shooter off a baseline drive.
Negatives:
- Shooting is still very much a work in progress. A couple bad misses from 3 and struggled from the line, nearly air balling one.
- Didn't show any real ball skills aside for a few straight line drives. Not asked to to do much ball handling in general.
- Shows very limited change of direction with the ball
- Not overly explosive vertically. His length helps him out here.
- Doesn't seem to be very instinctive on defense either. Just watching him move around the floor, you get the feeling the he's a guy that's still thinking the game, especially off the ball. Seems to be either focusing too much on the ball (typically hunting steals) or if he's more than one pass away losing sight of the ball which leads to being late on rotations.
- Defensive footwork looked clunky at times. IU switches a lot on PNR's, so didn't get to see much on his ability to get through screens, but he's a guy that you hope you can be switch heavy with, especially if he can handle quick guards.

Get with his family, figure out next steps, then declare for the NBA draft after the season. As long as it's not an ACL, he should be good to go.

Looks to be an ACL. Highly doubt he declares.

If OG does declares I think he goes 15-22. He'd be a steal there. He's never had any previous injuries that I have known of.

Knee injury, they never specified which one. I hope it's not ACL, he can recover from anything else without much problem.

Is raw, doesn't have a good feel for the game and now an ACL injury? I think he's going to be a roleplayer in the NBA and if he ever blooms it will be when he's older. I just hope his defense isn't hampered by his injury. It's hard to take him in the lottery for me.

I will be rooting for him to declare and hope Thibs pick him if we go after 10. I will took the risk even if it is an ACL.
With the Dleague growing up and our own affiliate even with a long rehab period he would be learning the same system and with NBA medical staff. Obviously is a risk for him without any words on where he will be picked, but I dont think he would much higher than that in the next year draft.
However I think he fits very well in which Thibs is trying to do and I really like his prospect.

Re: IU Hoosier: OG
I think he'll be borderline lottery if he declares. 12-18 range. The ACL will scare people a bit, but obviously if it hadn't happened he'd likely be top 10.
The injury might have helped him fall in to the Bulls range, actually.

ugh. thank you. when i scout prospects i like to do an nba comp just to kind of summarize how the player is stylistically. kept thinking through a bunch of wings but all i could think of were the SG/SF-types, which is a pretty big difference from what OG is.
also, is there any news on him declaring? i personally think he should, recovering from an ACL injury has a high "return to 100%" rate and teams are taking gambles on raw players with size+mobility in recent years (bruno caboclo, thon maker).

Re: IU Hoosier: OG
People are dropping him way too low. His size and movement is enough to draft him late lottery. It's the same reason Isaac is severely underrated because his lack of production. Isaac should be a top pick with his length and size for his position as well as his ability to shoot.

I think OG has Andrei Kirilenko potential. I'll he is going to drop in the draft due to not being able to work out for teams

Re: IU Hoosier: OG
I just took 5:1 odds against OG being drafted in the 1st round. Significant payout
I might lose it though because of teams in the 20s wanting to draft and stash (like W's tried with Kevon Looney). But worth the risk for the payout. I'd be stunned if he wasnt there at pick 20 though. Someone would have to reach. This kid is a project coming off a serious injury

This.
It shocks me that other Kings fans are hyped for this guy at 10. His offense is horrible, he's got injury issues already, and (worst of all IMO) he's supposed to be this great defensive player, but lacks the intensity of great defensive players.

I disagree completely. There are way too many bigs currently slotted into that mid-first area at a time when nobody is into bigs. His defensive upside literally every team in the league could use. I think teams figure there is big value to be had even in the second round.
I hope he doesn't get past Denver at 13, and I'd say no shot he gets to 20. (Great, I just doomed him to the second round. Congrats on your payday!)

Re: IU Hoosier: OG
Ya some Blazers fans are super high on him but I don't see a player that projects any better than the duo of Aminu and Harkless that we already have, and even then OG has a 3PT shot that looks worse than both of those guys coming out. Ewwww.

Don´t think he slips past 20 and no way a team like Spurs don´t take him in the end of 1st round.

Re: IU Hoosier: OG
Damn, broke even. I had a feeling a contending team would be willing to wait, basically draft & stash him
(I amended it to top 20 and the odds dropped to 2:1). 21-30 was break even, 2nd round payed double.
