Wouldn't surprise me if Brunson made the league. It took Napier four seasons to figure it out. Hell, I think Brunson is better than Tyler Ennis right now. When people say a guy can't make the league, they sometimes forget who the third string guys are.

Is a good comp for him a bigger Fred VanVleet? Similar body type. They both play super physical and can hit the 3. If his comp is VanVleet than he deserves to be a 17-21 pick IMO.
Thoughts?

Probably depends on how he looks at the Combine. His measurables aren't going to be all that impressive. Scouts are going to think he could use a few inches of height and a few less pounds and a higher vertical, etc. But I loved the kid as a player for Nova. Tough Competitor. Clutch. Cool under pressure. Makes his teammates better and the team performs better when he's on the court. I like the way he reads the flow of the game situationally. He knows when to go "hero" temporarily and when to defer to the hot hand. I don't think he's a player that is particularly interested in his own box score a long as there is a "W" on in.
I figure him to go late First or early 2nd Round. Where he goes will be important to how well he does in the NBA. In the right situation I think he can have a career in the league. In the wrong situation he'll get hemorrhoids from all the bench sitting. I see him being successful on a team like the Spurs. A more team oriented offense rather than a team of superstars taking turns playing hero ball.

Yeah once you get out of the lottery it's a win to find someone who's good enough to stick around in the NBA for 10 years or so, and I think Brunson has a very good shot of doing that at least.

A lot of players have dads that are NBA players and a lot of those players don’t even get drafted. Who is dad is has nothing to do with where he’ll get drafted. If that was the case Tim Hardaway would have been a first round pick in a really weak draft.

Tim Hardaway was a 1st Rd pick, duh.
Fact: The #1 predictor of being drafted in the NBA, is having a dad who played in the NBA.

Statistically, you are more likely to make the NBA if your dad was an nba player. I assume thats the point being made?

He has 2nd rd value, anything else shows the weakness of the draft or is simply a bad pick

Left handed DSR with slightly better stats and team defense.

Sounds familiar about someone else who was drafted not long ago who happens to be a 2 time MVP and champion...

He can shoot, play off the ball, solid defender as well....seems like a solid fit the modern day NBA if you ask me.
If athletic marvels like TJ McConnell, Fred VanVleet, and Quinn Cook can make it in the NBA then I don't see why Jalen Brunson can't.

Someone just said he made a mistake coming out, even though he already graduated. Guy has his degree, two chips and a multiple player of the year awards. He has nothing left to accomplish at Villanova.

The obvious comparison is Andre Miller. I just don't know if he's athletic enough for the NBA but if he is, he can be good. Andre thankfully came into the NBA when the PG position was weak. It's not to say Brunson can't play but you need a lot athletically in this league as a starter. I would like to see him in the range Slo-Mo got drafted and see him develop from there.

None of those guys got drafted. The had no expectation other than 10-12 MPG. VanFleet has been a gem but I've seen players do well for the Raptors and go elsewhere and flop. It's like the Miami Heat. They get the most out of some prospects that no one else can.
