And I really hope Luka gives this Dallas fan a piece of his mind if he seems him at a Mavs game.

These types of Dallas fans do not deserve such a player.

Regardless of what i feel about him, Dal needs their picks, and they threw away next year's pick or the one after for no reason. Take bamba and be happy

Rick literally said in press conference that they don't want or need picks, they are happy with what they have and want to start winning. I guess their plan does not match yours :D

But in all seriousness, i do trust they have some kind of plan for the future aswell. They wouldn't have done this otherwise. Cuban is no scrub he knows what he is doing.

Cuban passed on Giannis so Daxl could offer Dwight Howard a max deal. The same Dwight the Nets just released

I hope that after you see how very wrong you are about Doncic, that you can get over this "NCAA is better than EuroLeague" and "no foreign guards can play" shtick. The Mavs got the best player in the draft by far, having just the 5th pick, and you are complaining....

Hopefully most Mavs fans actually realize what they got, and are happy about it.

Brunson joining him in Dallas, waiting for that last pick to see the last added puzzle.

Good Bye and good luck. Just glad more talent is being spread around the league.

PHX
Sac
Dal
Atl

all should be fun to watch next year.

Pretty crazy that the first 4 picks all go to the western conference. The west is already stacked with individual talent and will be even more so if these guys pan out. Of course very rarely(if ever) do the top 5 picks end up being the 5 best players from the draft.

True, but they just might turn out. Some good core guys on those teams.

I don't know how I feel about this, I just hope Luka is happy enough and the team welcomes him warmly. It might sound cheesy, but this kid deserves all the freaking best in the world and knowing what a team player he is I just hope they appreciate him. If there is one thing that's clear is with Luka you got a player who will give his all to win every single game.

It only really hit me now. No more Luka in Europe. Man, it really sucks to lose all the best young players to the NBA.

I wish him a long and successful career, it's been a long time since I was this infatuated with a basketball player. Good luck, little Champ!

Ok, I slept (a little). And it's a mighty fine day despite the rain outside :)

I mean, still, would jizz for Doncic to play under KoKo, but this is like the second prize. Vlade gonna Vlad. :D

Europe isn't losing all the best players to the NBA. Obradovic just started saying that some years ago, and a bunch of people started repeating it like it's a fact.

Reality = this draft of Doncic, Wagner, Musa, Okobo, Bonga, Kurucs, Sanon, Mikhailuk, Kulboka, K. Antetokounmpo - it's nowhere near amounting to all the best European players that were eligible to be drafted, or that could have stayed in the draft, and no way in hell close if you count guys born in 96 that NBA simply refuses to even consider.

Doncic is a big loss, and maybe Musa is a little bit of a loss (depends on how he develops), the rest are absolutely nothing at all special in Europe and as good or better players in Europe come every year (with most of them never going to NBA), as good or better players in Europe exist in their same age group and were not taken in this draft, and all of those such players (except Doncic) can easily be replaced by as good or better players from USA, Canada, Latin America, Africa, Australia.

And of course some of those players won't even eventually be in NBA - some probably never even play there, and some only for a little bit. But other than Doncic, and maybe Musa, none of them is a loss for European basketball really. None of them other than Doncic is good enough to be a EuroLeague MVP, or a lead EuroLeague team to a championship. None of them other than Doncic could turn out that well.

I actually doubt if other than Musa, any of those other players could ever even make an All EuroLeague 2nd team. So it's really not at all true about all this best players got to NBA belief - it's just something Obradovic kept telling people and now people seem to believe it. If you break it down and analyze it, Europe lost exactly one important player (Doncic) that was it.

yes it is. year by year, good player by good player.

you cant expect to have every year new young great players. thats not the case even in the nba.

and the euroleague cant do nothing about it because it is on a much much lower level then the NBA.

here are very good player that left europe for the best league in the world recently:

giannis
jokic
porzingis
gobert
dragic
rubio
gasol x2
ginobili
capela
bogdanovic
valanciunas
saric
schroder
kanter
vucevic
batum
fournier
gallinari
hernangomez x2
bertans
doncic

now you will say: well gobert didnt do nothing in europe, de colo is the man. well yes, but if the nba had 60 teams, each of them would take gobert over de colo in a heart beat. :)

That's not all the best players at all. And some of them are replaced by non European players that are in a general similar level (maybe slightly lower) . Like for example, Bogdanovic leaves, but an American like Wanamaker is there to replace him. Bogdanovic is better, but only a little bit better.

In fact, some of those guys you listed - Kanter, Vucevic, Fournier, Hernangomez brothers (seriously?), Bertans) are not even at the level of best EuroLeague players. Some of them not even close to that level.

The actual list of potentially really good players EuroLeague lost (assuming they played there eventually, like how Giannis never did for example) would be like:

Giannis
Jokic
porzingis
Gobert
Dragic
Gasol brothers
Ginobili
Capela
Bogdanovic
Valanciunas
Saric
Schroder
Batum
Gallinari
Doncic

And that's over a period of SIXTEEN YEARS.

No actual analysis could ever come to the conclusion that Europe loses all its best players every year to the NBA. It loses maybe a couple at most. The claim always made, "Europe loses all its best players to NBA every year" is completely incorrect and is just a huge hyperbole.

In fact, plenty of those guys are not even at the level of good EuroLeague players.

If you think guys like Bertans and the Hernangomez brothers would be at the level of the best EuroLeague players - then you very clearly have never once seen a EuroLeague game at any time in your life.

Rubio is always a role player for Spain (and really never plays as well as guys like Rodriguez and Llull do), Vucevic is average in lower level FIBA tournaments, and De Colo is clearly better for France than Fournier is. I know 90+ percent of people in these forums love to make the NBA better than it is compared to EuroLeague, and EuroLeague worse than it is compared to every other league in the world, but some of the claims are just way over the top even considering that.

Hernangomez brothers....probably couldn't even get consistent playing time in the good EuroLeague teams
