How high (or low) are you on Alkins? Watching him the past couple of years, I find he's a polarizing prospect. I'm not sure 'fools gold' is the right word but you always wish he gave you more...

Thoughts as a late 1st?

I find him polarizing as well. I'm not sure his skill-set really aligns with what his tools lead you to believe his archetype is as a player.

However, he's clearly athletic and will benefit from more space imo. Needs to improve both as a shooter and defender though.

I have him 2nd round, wouldn't take him late 1st considering who else is there.

Overrated. He has a great body and he’s hard to stop driving to the basket just because of his body size. But he really doesn’t have much burst and he moves slow laterally. Best case scenario he’s a roleplayer. I don’t belive in his defense and I don’t have faith in his offense. He’s just not fluid, like he gained too much muscle without making sure he kept his fluidity. I don’t belive in his offensive rebounding and his feel, he’s a solid wing passer. I don’t believe in his shot too.

Add in some of the worst handles I can remember seeing from a wing and you’ve got a guy who will probably go undrafted.

I would agree about his present ball handling skills or lack thereof. BUT, it can be worked on. His speed is debatable, as he'd likely gain a little bit speed but in the same way lose a bit of strength too if he slims down. Cliche as it is, but Oladipo's transformation is an example. He's enhanced his fluidity as he gained speed.

Nbadraft's Lance Stephenson comparison is just about right, - body, shot selection, grit, but without the handles of course.

FIrst of all, he’s smaller than Stephenson and Stephenson is more fluid/has better body control.

Oladipo was always fluid, it was part of the reason he was taken so high and he was also more athletic. He was a great defender in college. Oladipo bulked up and got into the best shape of his life. I honestly don’t even belive Alkins wants to be good. He doesn’t have a dog personality and doesn’t have the personality of someone that wants to be great in the league.

Sure, he's about 1.5 inches smaller than Stephenson. But he's scaled to proportions. I am referring more to the style of play / possible role in the NBA once Alkins develops. He measures quite similar to Jordan Crawford but chances are, he's not going to have the same style of play as him. Who's your best comparison for him then?

I agree on the fluidity, FOR NOW. But as I've mentioned, it can be developed and it will likely develop because he won't survive long in the league with what he has now.

Oladipo was fluid, yes. But wasn't as fluid as he is now. He plays a lot lighter now than when he was in Orlando and OKC. Exactly my point on trimming down, it made Oladipo achieve his ideal body structure and with it, better body control.

I wouldn't throw things if we took him at 50.
