This kid’s camp let him down sending him to Memphis. From the combine showing to the PG experiment..Memphis/Penny did him no favors.

Bates has to really be regretting his decision to go to Memphis right now

He is 29 days too young. His birthday is January 28, 2004. The latest birthday for 2022 is December 31, 2003.

Someone can correct me if Im wrong, but the new rules for college sports is undergraduate players can transfer 1 time without having to sit out a year.

So I believe he could transfer and play next year without having to sit out a year.

Bates needs to go to a team where he can play a lot of off ball. The whole trying to play Bates as a PG/Point Forward thing was unbelievably stupid by Penny. It seems like so far all Memphis has done is highlight the major weaknesses in his game without showcasing any of his strengths.

They had the little pro day thing and made the measurements public which showed his horrible measurements and his horrible athletic numbers.

Then Penny tried the whole PG/Point Forward thing and that really showed Bates lack of first step and ability to create separation.

So far its just been highlighting his flaws so far. What Bates needs is to be the 2nd guy on an offense. He needs to be put in that Jaylen Brown/Siakam (from the Kawhi team) role. Have another guy be the primary guy that attacks a set defense, then have Bates be the guy who gets the ball that gets to attack an already broken down defense. In that role he can get more catch and shoot opportunities and his on ball ability wouldnt look so bad.

Going to Memphis has just been a major disaster for him so far.

Yup, it's looking that way. Apparently he's looking to make his decision by mid June.
While there was slight buzz surrounding Michigan and Seton Hall after he dropped his top schools, the Cardinals quickly emerged as the perceived frontrunner for Bates. Multiple crystal ball predictions for Louisville began to pour in across sites like 247Sports, Rivals and On3.

“The one school in particular that I’m hearing right now is Louisville and coach Kenny Payne. It sounds like they’ve really made an impression on his family,” 247Sports' Travis Branham said when he put in his crystal ball pick. “All the information right now is pointing in Louisville’s direction.”

he will be, transferring has nothing to do with whether he's eligible for the draft or not

Eastern Michigan? Wow, this kid has surrounded himself with some shady ass dudes. He's getting horrible advice. I'm legit worried about him.

Kind of feel bad for the kid. Made so many poor choices, his advisors are awful. May never get to a team.

He still has a solid chance to be a 1st round pick.

I don't know if it's solid but yeah he has a chance. He could turn this around with a great season. It is just not looking good right now.

He was definitely very overhyped / overrated.

yes, if Patrick Baldwin can be a first rounder after the disaster at Milwaukee so can Emoni, he has to have a great year at EM tho.
