Look...all these guys except maybe the first 2 are a roll the dice, maybe he will be a stud type NBA player. Most are 18-19 year old kids...news flash...some will improve tremendously, and none are finished products. I like Garland..think he will be a stud...lots of scouts love Garland...is he a guarantee NBA all star...heck no...but I am hoping my Cavs take him over Culver or Hunter...because I don't see the NBA all star potential in either one of those two, but do Garland.

Ja morant is no guarantee to be a star. Garland has higher probability given his skillset in today's NBA.

thanks. Still wish we had his HS numbers for bigger volume. Blows my mind how the top 10 guys don't have maxprep pages but some farmboy no one that will never play a game after High school has every single stats since he was a freshman sometimes.

His game actually reminds me of Kyrie minus the finishing ability. Both are very flashy ball handler who can create their own shots and pull up from anywhere on the floor.

if he gets better as a playmaker, he's an all-star type.

he's getting there, watch out

He’s definitely watching Steph. The imitation of his off ball play/screen setting and bumping in the lane and confidence pulling up from range grow more with each game. Turnovers are my only real critique with him lately, but it’s hard when he has literally no off-the-dribble threats in the starting lineup with him and only one guy who’s a consistent threat for a catch and shoot three in Lauri. Most of his assist opportunities are inside the paint due to the makeup of the team, which are inherently more turnover prone passes, but his playmaking, especially in the PnR to the bigs, has been pretty great.

Garland On-Court:
111.0 ORTG

Garland Off-Court:
94.6 ORTG

Net ORTG: +16.4

The next highest Offensive On-Off on the team belongs to Rubio at +6.1. So the Cavs’ offense is completely reliant on him right now.

He’s becoming what I thought he could become and why I wanted my Bulls to trade up for him. His D still needs work. He’s benefitting from not having Sexton ball hogging.

If I were redrafting I'm taking Ja and Galand 1 & 2. I still roll the dice on Zion third thinking 60% of the time I'll crap out but its worth the risk.

Garland will make all NBA teams in his career. At this point I'm certain of it. I'm not even sure he's not a better long term prospect for us than Mobley is. The kids trajectory and growth is unreal and a joy to watch.

Want to give Altman credit for having the balls to draft him. ..

He was 6'1''
Played 5 college games before a serious injury
Had a negative A/TO ratio
Was viewed as a scorer more-so than a playmaker, just like Sexton was

This was a draft pick where if it failed, would have looked really, REALLY stupid. Like 'get you fired and laughed at' kind of stupid.

I think most GMs would have drafted Culver or Reddish at 5 and essentially lit the draft pick on fire.

I've been thinking about this lately too and I agree. If we were forced to only retain one of Garland or Mobley, I would definitely hesitate and I'm not certain I would roll with Mobley.

Garland was an easy pick to anyone that actually watched him play

but yea Koby killed it with Mobley and Garland.

Okoro not so much

Pretty sure it will be him or Ja Morant for first PG off the board.

This was from Nov 2018. I ended up with DG at 4, Ja at 5. What I think can separate DG from Ja long term is his off the ball ability. That's what makes Steph so lethal. Trae has that ability, but not the mentality.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Looking at Garland's On/Off + OnCourt numbers and wow. This guy makes that team run like a well oiled machine. Shades of CP3 in how he just finds a way to control the game from the point spot.

He is a hell of a lot better than I expected. He looks like the closest thing to Paul in regards to controlling the flow of the game that I have seen.
