Is he out of shape at all or just disinterested? He is sluggish getting up the court on most of these plays in addition to having a bad game.

Gardner took his talents to Virginia and the ACC and is beasting. Probably even more past the age he could be a legit NBA draft prospect but he's clearly a great college player player. 46th in PER in the nation, 23rd among guys playing 25+ minutes and top 100 in plenty of other advanced metrics. UVA plays at a slow pace which suppresses his raw numbers but still averaging about 15ppg 8rpg on ridiculous true shooting even without any shooting or space around him. UVA seems to have decided to ride him now and they are 3-1 in the ACC even with a pretty inferior supporting cast. If he somehow drags this UVA team to top 3 in the ACC he should be POY.

Dudes who average 0.3 steals and 0.4 blocks don't get drafted, seems like a Europe guy?

Also doesn't hit threes (has shot 10 all season, 44 over 4 years).

I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt on this one because he's consistently hit around 73-76% on free throws so might just need a couple years to be a meh 3pt shooter at the 4. But the stocks numbers I think are non-negotiable from a scouting perspective.

This reminds me, Champagnie seems to be mocked around 37-40 from what I've seen and he's putting up 21-7-2 with with 2 blocks, 1.6 steals and getting up 7 3s a game and hitting 44% and is a career 81% shooter. How is that not a first rounder when he's 6'8, 220? That's the sort of forward it seems like every team needs.

He was 84th percentile on Defense at ECU last year on synergy, and hoopslens said he was just as effective when he played center. I don't have synergy anymore to check what he is doing at UVA but he played 12 of his 18 games in the AAC last year not the Big South. He can be an effective defender when he's can worry less about his fouls. I know at ECU he was the team so he had to dial in the aggression and stay on the court. They couldn't have him fouling out and he was playing 35 minutes a game at 240lb and much of it fatigued. UVA plays a system defense he probably has to play his role in more.

Does he switch and can he guard on the perimeter? I don't see it with him.

I mean he's a good college player, but I dont see an NBA player with him. I dont know, if he was like a super stud defender or had some passing to his game. I would say you take the chance on him with the hope his 3pt shot comes around he becomes a playable NBA player. But there is just nothing to his game that screams would translate to what he would be asked to do in the NBA at his size.

I was higher on him a few years back when I thought he could add a three point shot or increased his scoring load/statistical production which regressed, then was equal to his peak. Still interesting though.
