Carsen Edwards

Jesus this kid is one of the funnest players to watch in a long time and deserves his own thread.

His ability to get his shot off of the dribble for a 'little guy' is IT-like.

His teammate stole the show against the Vols. Ryan Cline just punched his ticket to a NBA summer league roster at minimum

How many 3s did Cline score in a row tonight? That was insane. Anyway Carsen is a good player. Although he is on the shorter side the kid is athletic and very strong and he knows how to play basketball.

on the shorter side but 6-6+ wingspan makes up for it a bit

Where have you guys been? I’ve been saying he is a first round pick for a while, I don’t know why some of you have Tre Jones ahead of him.

I remember being interested in him last year, but for some reason I havent paid attention to him all year. Hes been consistent throughout college though.

I'd go Edwards pretty easily, think he has a much higher ceiling with his scoring ability. Poole just doesn't strike me as more than alright at anything in particular.

I like Poole, but he needs to return to college. There are too many wings in this class that will go ahead of him and next year he can be the featured player of the team. Right now I have a hard time seeing him go ahead of a lot of guys more deserving of a roster spot just because hes been so inconsistent and doesn’t have any special skill that separates himself from everyone else/isn’t a special kind of athlete. To me he’s a late 2nd round pick just because of the depth at his position in this draft. Edwards is a late first round pick.

IDK about starting (his PG skills aren't good), but Edwards can be a fun sparkplug off of someone's bench in the NBA.

It’ll be interesting if a team will let him take the shots he’s taking. My guess is that if he goes to a smart team he’ll spend time in the G-League to become a better playmaker. But he has pretty good speed down the lane driving, I’d like to see him use a pick and actually try to get to the basket instead of pulling up. But maybe he’s afraid of getting hurt. His body is pretty big, I’d like to see him trying to draw contact acround rim. If could even open up his outside shots more.

If he was a better 3pt shooter I would consider him late 1st. A guy like Patty Mills is a sharpshooter. Edwards shot 30% from 3 in conference play this year. Freshman year he had a TS% of 48%, this year he had a TS% of 53%

Sophomore year he was much more efficient. But I will side with the 2 year and most recent sample. I'm not sold he is that efficient of a scorer.

Then add in 0 PG skills and 0 defense, plus his tiny size. Way too many question marks to take him 1st round in my opinion.

A hell of a tournament though.

0 defense? dude's a legit defender man I can't agree there.

elite dribbler, great first step, good shooter and can get anywhere on the floor and get his shot off from different platforms, is an elite FT shooter, is strong, good wing span and can defend.

he needs to do much better job of orchestrating offense and managing games (though that might not be his forte) but there is enough to like there to take late first IMO.

i can see him being a great 6th man off the bench as a microwave scorer type the same way Isaiah Thomas started his career.

He can get more consistent for the most part, just because right now he’s the best player on the team and gets good defenders on him. I believe he’ll be able to get better looks in the NBA too. Before teams were planning for him at the start of the year he was killing it. When he matures his game he’s going to be a good player. His style of play is very “college basketball” right now. He’s holding the ball too much, taking too many shots, not even giving himself time to see the basket, playing without an offensive identity that works in the NBA, because he isn’t Steph Curry. He’ll grow out of it.

I think he's an easy guy to take a shot on in the later 1st for a lot of teams and if he falls to the 2nd could be a great pick up there. I'd certainly be fine with him in Utah (wouldn't hate it in the 1st, but probably more as a 2nd, as I think we need a forward a bit more than a bench guard).

I don’t really know how he would work in Utah’s system, but that actually might be good for him. But I know Snyder isn’t a fan of guys who don’t get back on defense, which is why Grayson Allen didn’t get many minutes this year. And Edwards isn’t really a guy that does it very much.
