Who should the Lakers take at 4?
assume two things
1- Zion/Ja/RJ top 3 picks
2- Lakers keep the pick
please note that this is who they SHOULD take

Garland for sure. I'm honestly not sure why Lonzo is being continually hyped as much as he is. He shouldn't be the reason to dissuade them from picking the most talented player available. I wouldn't be surprised if they're the team that promised Garland. Phoenix at #6 is willing to trade the pick for a vet PG. Chicago is being rumored to be the team who promised White.
It's either Cleveland or LA. I think it's LA.

I’m not convinced Garland is the 4th best player in the draft, but I think he’s the best pick for the Lakers at that spot. He’s literally the opposite of Ball as far as skillsets go, so I think they could be a solid backcourt pairing moving forward

Re: Who should the Lakers take at 4?
Hunter is my personal favorite BUT the Lakers have plenty of forwards, they don't need more and LBJ needs shooters (period). He'd be incredibly useful as a 3+D wing defender who can space the floor and try to make up for Bron's lack of effort on that end but unless you're absolutely sure Kyrie is coming....
The pick has to be Darius Garland, need we mention already being a Klutch client.
Unless Kyrie has signed the dotted line, you can't count at all on him coming. I think Butler is a more likely target (although I think the legit fear for LAL to have is that both him & Kawhi will go to LAC) and again LeBron absolutely must add shooters. You can likely flip Ball to PHX or CHI and add another wing then whether that's Culver (who Lakers seem to be looking at extensively), Reddish or heck maybe even Hunter slides that far. But Bron must get shooters and Garland seems to be the best one out of the draft and he's also able to do so off the ball which is very important.

Re: Who should the Lakers take at 4?
If they keep the pick? Really depends on how sold they are with Ball. If they want to keep going forward with him, in all honesty I think you can make the case that Cam is the best fit. You have LeBron, Ingram and Ball already, so you don't want another person that needs the ball. So do they draft Garland to basically just be an off ball shooter?
Cam no doubt has the upside of a 4th pick. Him and Ingram can switch back and forth between the 2 and 3. Cam was inconsistent as a shooter in college, but with his form and touch I think he is going to be like Bradley Beal was. Similar 3pt and FT numbers, easy to project as a shooter because the form and touch. You also get yourself a very intriguing lineup when it comes to size
Ball: 6'6 with a 6'9 wingspan
Cam: 6'8 with a 7'1 wingspan
Ingram: 6'9 with a 7'3 wingspan
LeBron: 6'9 with a 7' wingspan
Of all the Cam negatives, there is one positive for sure with him. The dude was a hell of a defender last year and I feel pretty confident his defense should translate.
Spacing to me is the Lakers biggest issue, so Garland and Hunter makes sense. But again do you want to add another guy that is best with the ball with the 3 guys you already have. Hunter makes sense and Im a huge Hunter guy, but do you go with the higher risk, but higher reward guy with Cam. I actually think I may.

Who do I want them to take? Luguentz Dort. Who should they take? Darius Garland. They need shooters.

Re: Who should the Lakers take at 4?
how about this...if ur the Lakers would you trade the 4th pick for the Celtics' first two picks? #14 and #20, or do you also need #22? or is that still not enough?

As many know Im not that high on this draft and think it falls off a pretty steep cliff after Zion. With that said, no way do you do that trade. No way you trade out of the top 5 for a mid and late 1st round pick.

i actually like this draft but the idea here is that after the top the talent is not the far off from the top 5 to end of the lotto...like if I'm the Lakers, is getting Goga Bitadze/Tyler Herro (as an example) worth Darius Garland?
i think it's a good convo.

15th and 20th picks can get you the 10th pick as in portland-sac draft night trade 2 years ago.
So I would ask 22nd too definitely. Even so, it doesn't make perfect sense.

If they're taking it for themselves and not to trade for AD, then Hunter. He could definitely become an all-defensive player under Vogel. On offense he'll hit threes playing off of LeBron, and he'll have plenty of mismatches to attack with teams putting their best perimeter defenders on LeBron and Ingram.

if we project jaylen brown as good as this year's 8ish pick, i would say yes. but i am not sure about his current value. but probably most of managements would take the possibility of a 4th pick being a star player.

I don't think Garland is as good a prospect as someone like Culver, but it makes a lot of sense for LA. His shooting/scoring ability seems pretty NBA ready. He can play off of LeBron, he can play alongside Lonzo if necessary, and obviously be a creator when needed.

I don't like Garland as No.4, just too risky. Mike Gribnov in one of podcast has a argument that if Quentin Grimes was injured after 5 games, he probably would also lock on top 5 based on his first 3 games, past high school record and better sizes than Garland. 5 games sample size is simply too small to take the risk.
