Who will be the BUST of the 2019 draft class?

Post#1 » by orlandomanic » Fri Jul 12, 2019 1:21 pm

Every year, their is at least 1 guy in the top 4 picks who is an unquestionable "bust" of their draft class. Who do you think that guy will be for the 2019 draft class?

2019 ?
2017 Markelle Fultz
2016 Dragan Bender
2015 Jahlil Okafor
2014 Jabari Parker
2013 Anthony Bennett
2012 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
2011 Derrick Williams
2010 Evan Turner
2009 Hasheem Thabeet
2008 Michael Beasley
2007 Greg Oden

DeAndre Hunter. Not really bust, will be a good role player but someone who should've gone late lottery

'17 has a couple of ginormous busts in the top 4...Jackson and Fultz, I have a tough time deciding who's worse. haven't even started year 3 yet and both are off the teams that drafted them.

this draft I dunno, i don't see any big busts in the lotto, I had Rui/Cam Johnson as possible disappointments that high but they should still be somewhat productive.

If he is a high end role player off the bench like Iggy for us, he was well worth the cost.

Fultz is such a strange one. Jackson makes sense. KU hides its players deficiencies especially BBIQ and feel for the game. You don't see a lack of it till they are in the NBA and it's too late.

For me, last year is Kevin Knox and Jerome Robinson. I wasn't high on either and both have been worse than I though while being low on them.

This year, tough to say. Maybe Jarrett Culver and P.J. Washington. Neither will be bust but neither are championship level players to me and around Charlotte range, you had Herro, Sekou, Romeo and Cam. I feel P.J. is too much like Cody Zeller level and you lost Kemba who was going to get more out of Washington in the 1st place. Just not a fan of it now as I was the night of the draft.

Some will say Cam Johnson but for what PHX needed and had, I felt it was a great pick. A difference maker off the bench and that's what PHX needed. They had their starters and Rubio was the perfect PG they added. It made sense.

Wolves passed on Reddish, Hayes, White and Rui and will regret the **** outta it. Especially Reddish. Those four could be the best four in the draft when it's said and done. Culver could be good but he will never be as good as those four horsemen.

This is tough... there are so many that could be this guy .
Sorry ATL but I'm leaning towards Reddish and would definitely think McDaniels could be the better long term prospect picked by Charlotte where Washington could fizzle.

Bamba (#6) and Knox (#9) are candidates to become busts. The top 5 from 2018 (Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, Jackson Jr, Young) is looking very good, strong draft.

The 2019 draft class has a lot of question marks. Zion has a huge hype to live up to. I'm convinced that Morant and Garland will succeed, but after that I'm not 100% certain about any of the rest of the top 10 (Barrett, Hunter, Garland, Culver, White, Hayes, Hachimura and Reddish).

I wouldn't call Cam a bust, you can't be a bust at #10.

Its more like if you are selected top 5 and you are not even a starter or playing in China only after a few years, that is a bust.

no anyone who goes in the lottery and doesnt last the length of their rookie deal is a bust... a player that couldn't hack it/ reach their ceiling which in his case is why he went 10 and not 55th.. Obviously Reddish is a boom bust pick.

2017 Zach Collins
2016 Thon Maker
2015 Justise Winslow
2014 Elfrid Payton
2013 CJ McCollum
2012 Austin Rivers
2011 Jimmer Fredette
2010 Paul George
2009 Brandon Jennings
2008 Brook Lopez
2007 Spencer Hawes
2006 Saer Sene

Above are all all #10 picks, only 3 out of the 12 are not busts. It is actually very rare to get a quality starter at #10. Majority of 10th picks end up on the bench or out of the league after only 5 years.

first you say you can't be a bust at 10 then come back with this ? what difference does it make... any player taken at 10 that was originally considered a top 5 recruit and was picked on the premise that they would live up to that level despite falling to 10 for legitimate concerns after a poor college season is definitely going to be considered a bust unless he turns it around because he is already considered one by most or he would not have fallen out of the top tier of prospects . This is a little different than a Elfrid Payton who was not projected any higher than 10 or a Thon Maker who was projected in the 20's.

İ see McCollum, PG, Lopez, Winslow and Payton as pretty decent picks for pick 10. Jury is still out on Collins too.

Why would it be weird? Neither one of them could shoot at the college level.
