18yrs old, already playing pro since he's 15, now plays in Germany after being in France (Cholet) in Pro A League.
Went in Germany to get the opportunity to play EuroCup, which means facing a way different bball everyweek VS real men (opposite of College, thats gives you an idea of the level of his opponents)
Passing skillls and IQ Bball is extremely high, def got more of an NBA body this year !
Expected top 10

Starting to really like him. We should start a French connection with him and Sekou

I like how poised he is at his age, but he really doesn't seem to be very explosive. I am worried about his functional athleticism at the next level. I know that's not his game, but there is a baseline that a guy needs to get by (Except rare circumstances) and IDK if his will hold up.

Athleticism has improved from last year to this year, so there is potential for more athletic growth. For someone that lacks explosion, he did an awesome job creating for himself in the paint - 33/36 paint makes were non-assisted.

He’s actually a much better functional basketball athlete than he is a raw athlete.

Hayes doesn’t have great foot speed but he can accelerate and decelerate in/out of his moves quickly. That’s the most important thing you need to create separation as ballhandler - being able to drop your hips and get low while changing direction/speed on the basketball court.

Killian can work on footspeed, strength , raw vertical leap, those things will naturally improve as he gets in the NBA weight room. But his ability to dribble low to the floor, use change of pace, hesitations, stepbacks etc all of that is absolutely going to translate well. And he has floater touch with both hands , which can make him effective even when he doesn’t get all the way to the rim

What about a Billups type ceiling? Not really athletic but a high IQ floor general who could get his shot off efficiently.

I started to watch him when he was 15yrs old at Cholet and was (obviously) not very athletic but lately he did go to the gym, and to me the most important is the way he manages his rythm : you dont need to be the most physical to be efficient, you just need to know what to do, and he's learning the right way via his great passing skills, his strong left hand (which is FOREVER the hardest type of player to defend on) and his finishing that absolutely improved this year.
And again, since we talk abt the NBA draft, we need to talk abt the adversity : he plays against grown men, not tall teenagers, he's already a pro since 4 yrs, he knows how to adjust and is very very coachable.
In conclusion, i would say that Detroit is the perfect fit for him, it would be heaven (for me and all France) to have him with Sekou.

He reminds me a lot of someone else who has come out recently — Coby White

Good chance he ends up in Detroit too

Way taller than Coby i believe !
But Killian seems to be more of a PG, or is willing to be a better organizer than Coby. Again, his experience talks for him and foreign players (mostly europeans) would hit the rookie wall less harder than US players since there is probably less expectations on them, even if its changing.
Tony Parker set up the best example : being a foreigner with the US killer mentality through the father. Killian's father played long time in the French League (just like TP's father) and in the future the NBA will see lots of half french half US player who'll perform in the League because the are gifted with the NBA mentality coupled with the basics of bball that they have learned in France (with Spain probably the most successful way to learn bball in Europe)

Coby is a legit 6-5 dude just looks short because of his build, Coby is way way quicker and faster though, Hayes a better playmaker

Hayes is infinitely better as a 'point guard' than Coby.

I've read there are questions about his shooting, but he looks super confident and its a smooth release. also hits some difficult shots in the clip above and others on youtube. He reminds me of a taller maybe bit more talented version of monte morris.

Whats the big difference between him and maledon to more in the know intl fans? other than their leagues

Hayes is my favorite player in the draft right now. Coby is faster, but I think Hayes is fairly equal as an all-around athlete, and he's longer. And Hayes has a much higher BBIQ - though he is error-prone on his passing. Tbh, I've always thought Coby was overrated. I'd want to start Hayes out as a combo guard because of that and maybe ease him into the PG roll. Still just 18 years old - it'll be interesting to see if he's gotten bigger or longer when it's combine time. He's already got a natural looking swag to his game - he knows he's good.

More shooting potential, more versatile playmaker, more fluid movements with the ball, better defender – just a more natural basketball player. Maledon is quicker, and I guess his PnR action with bigs is up there. Other than that, Hayes is just better with fewer question marks.

Has Killian snuck in as the top PG in the class for anyone yet?
